We are deeply concerned by recent reports about the sentences given to boys who r***d teenage girls, which have now been referred to the Court of Appeal.

Cases like this can be incredibly difficult to read, particularly for survivors. They can raise painful questions about justice, accountability, and how seriously sexual violence is treated.

At GRASAC, we stand firmly with survivors.

We believe you. We hear you. And you deserve to be safe and supported.

Sexual violence has lasting impacts, and it is vital that responses, both societal and within the justice system, reflect the seriousness of these crimes and centre survivors’ experiences.

Tonight we are incredibly proud to share that GRASAC received a Highly Commended award at the SoGlos Awards in the Charity of the Year category. 💜

This recognition belongs first and foremost to the survivors who place their trust in us every single day. Your courage, strength and voices are at the heart of everything we do.

It also belongs to our dedicated staff and volunteers whose compassion, expertise and commitment make support, advocacy and change possible, often behind the scenes and always with unwavering care.

Awards like this are also a reminder of how vital partnerships with businesses and organisations across Gloucestershire are to our future. Community support, fundraising partnerships, sponsorship and local collaboration help ensure survivors can continue to access specialist support when they need it most.

To every person, business, supporter and partner who stands alongside us: thank you. Together, we are building a county where survivors are believed, supported and empowered.

The issues raised in the BBC Panorama investigation into Married at First Sight UK are deeply concerning.

Survivors should never be placed in situations where their safety, boundaries or wellbeing are compromised, whether in relationships, workplaces, institutions or entertainment settings.

Consent is ongoing, informed and essential. Being filmed for television, being in a relationship, or previously consenting to intimacy does not remove a person’s right to say no or withdraw consent at any time.

We welcome calls for these allegations to be taken seriously and for accountability where harm or wrongdoing has occurred. Survivor welfare must never come second to ratings, entertainment or profit.

We know reports like this can be distressing for survivors of sexual violence. Please take care of yourself and step away from coverage if needed.
