💜 What does adoption mean to you?

For National Adoption Week, we’re sharing the story of J, a birth mum whose two youngest children were adopted. Her story is a powerful reminder that adoption is not just about creating a new family, but about preserving a child’s identity, honouring their beginnings, and keeping important connections alive.

Through J’s experience, we explore the love that continues beyond separation, the importance of birth family connections, and the invisible threads that link children to the people who will always be part of their story.

Read J’s moving story and discover why staying connected matters. 💜

We've got the Wednesday of October covered - wherever you are in the Adoption West region!
🎨🏃 Two activity events, one date – Wednesday 28 October! 💛

Are you aged 8–16 and adopted? We have two opportunities to get involved this October, with fun, activities and the chance to connect with other adopted young people.

🏅 1. Atlas Activity Morning (nr. Cheltenham)
Get ready for sports, games, challenges and creative crafts! Spend time with other adopted young people, try something new and have fun with support from the Adoption West team and the brilliant Atlas Camp coaches.

🌳 2. Wiltshire Outdoor Activity
There's also a separate outdoor activity event taking place in Wiltshire on the same day!
Kids and teens aged 8 – 17 years are invited to join us for a fun-filled session of activities, including archery!

Instructors from WOLT will coach participants through successful games and challenges with each activity.

Adoption West will subsidise the cost per child, meaning spaces are just £10 per child for either activity. .

❤️ It’s the little things that make a family.

Since adopting their daughter last year, Adam and Ste have been building routines, creating traditions and making memories that will last a lifetime.

For a child waiting for adoption, having someone there, day after day, offering love, stability and a place to call home, can mean everything.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be open to the possibility.

🏡 Could adoption be part of your story?

Join one of our upcoming Information Events to find out more. No pressure, just the chance to ask questions and explore whether adoption could be right for you.

For Ellie, the number 5 holds a special place in her heart ❤️
It's the number of children her parents adopted, the number of Paralympic gold medals she's won and the early alarm call that got her out of bed to train each morning ⏰

Adoption is about creating a space where a child can feel loved, supported and truly at home, every day 🏡

Every adoption journey is different, but most start with one question - is this something I/we could do? Want to explore this question further? Please get in touch https://ow.ly/Ll4B50ZTrKk

🍎 Sometimes the most important thing a teacher can give a child is understanding.

This World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating the teachers and school staff who help children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

For adopted children, school can bring unique challenges. Understanding their experiences can make a real difference.
