Happy ! πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Today, we're celebrating the power of movement, mindfulness, and balance. Yoga is more than just exercise; it's a practice that can improve flexibility, build strength, reduce stress, support heart health, and enhance overall wellbeing.

If you want to act now and age better, but yoga isn't your thing, swipe across to Find Your Fitness. Alternatively, read our blog below...

It's Pride Month!πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

This June, we're highlighting all the older LGBTQ+ people in our community who have lived through so much change, fighting for rights that many younger generations take for granted today.

Getting older brings its own challenges but for many older LGBTQ+ people, those challenges can feel a little lonelier and more complex. So we're letting you know that Age UK Gloucestershire is a safe place where you can find support, information, guidance and signposting about all aspects of later life. You can reach our Help Team on 01452 422660

We also have our publication, "LGBT Navigating Later Life" guide which explains everything from understanding your rights, to planning for the future.

This Loneliness Awareness Week (15th – 21st June), Age UK Gloucestershire is raising awareness of the issue of loneliness among older people, the stigma that’s often attached, and the services that are available to help πŸ’™

In England, 360,000 older people (age 65+) go a week without speaking to family or friends. In the South West, 280,000 older people don’t want to burden friends and family by telling them they’re lonely. Statistic analysis by Age UK.

Don't suffer in silence; our experienced team can tell you about how we can help or, if we are unable to provide what you’re looking for, we can put you in touch with the most appropriate organisation for you. Find out more below...

Today is and we're highlighting how ageism can be one of the most normalised and overlooked forms of discrimination. These everyday phrases may seem harmless but, repeated across a lifetime, they shape how we treat other, and how we see ourselves. They chip away at confidence, influence decisions, and limit opportunities in work, health, relationships and community life.

So join us in questioning it because the more we challenge it, the more we start to change it.
