We had a leisurely stroll through the walled garden at The Museum in the Park today for our Stroud Gentle Walk.

Bees were buzzing all around us, attracted by the colourful flowers, and a gentle breeze kept us nice and cool.

Our next gentle walk will be on June 26th - we meet at the Museum from 10.30am onwards and set off on the walk at 11am. Everyone's welcome to come along, particularly those with walking difficulties. We change our route depending on ability.

Here are a few snaps from our recent trips.

Back in March our daffodil trip left us in awe at the number of daffodils we found, almost like a carpet. We were lucky with the weather with our next two trips - Westmidlands and Forest of Dean Sculpture trail - both times we had wonderful blue skies!

On Thursday June 18th we'll be visiting Birmingham Botanical Gardens. We'll be leaving from The Friendship Cafe at 9am and aiming to be back by 4pm. It should be around £12 for admission and fuel costs, so do get in touch if you'd like to join us 🙂

Gary has once again been whiling away his hours in our workshop, but this time making tables for himself.

He used resin and different shades of wood to create a tabletop which we think is quite eye-catching!

We had a surprise guest last Monday when Ruth, a participant we hadn't seen in a while, popped by. It was great to see her again and she got straight back to whittling away on the same piece of wood she's been working on for 7 years.

We're all eager to see the end result...!

Our allotment has another fun activity for the upcoming half-term!

Kids can swing by our allotment on Wednesday (27th) between 11am - 2pm and try their hand at making decorations by recycling disused CDs. By using paint and ribbons, they can create a stylish hanging ornament to put up in their room or garden.

Or, if you'd like to stretch your legs a little, you can join Kathy's Barton Street gardening group on that same day. They'll be meeting up at Sinope Street car park at 10.30am then doing a bit of weeding and tidying up before swinging by One Eyed Jacks for some much needed refreshments. All the tools you'd need will be provided!

Harriet was in charge of choosing today's lunch, and went for a vegetarian lasagne with salad - something I believe we haven't had before!

We also had lots of cake to celebrate Bernie's birthday.

Next Monday (25th) will be a bank holiday - and apparently quite a hot one (30c 🤯) - so we'll be taking a break from our lunch club and hope you all enjoy the sun!

We went through more than 60 burgers (beef, lamb, veggie and gluten-free!) plus ample amounts of potato salad during our BBQ on Monday, although we won't lie - it was a slightly damp affair.

Still, we enjoyed our lunch under the shelters and then venturing out to see what was in bloom around the allotment during the brief dry spells.

Next Wednesday (20th) we'll be going on a trip to the Forest of Dean!

We'll be taking a leisurely walk around the sculpture trail and then finding somewhere to pop into for lunch - although you're welcome to bring your own too.

We'll be leaving from The Friendship Café at 10am and hoping to be back by 4pm at the very latest. We're asking for a small donation of £2 to cover fuel.

If you'd like to come along then send us a message or call us on 01452 415900 🙂
