Great to be invited to the grand opening of the Forum today.
Managed to dodge the rain for the most part.
Can't wait for more businesses to move in and make Gloucester thier home.

Our CEO Luke Lutman had a great time today as one of the judging pannel for the Start and Grow Enterprise project supporting young people to start businesses in Gloucester.
Many years ago he was where these young people are now, starting a business and completing the Start and Grow project so it was nice to be on the other side giving back and helping the next generation of businesses in Gloucester.

🚉 More great news for commuters in Gloucester!

In December I wrote to the Transport Secretary about the half hourly service between Gloucester and Bristol which was due to end in May this year.

Gloucester Chamber of Commerce had been in touch to ask me to champion the ongoing funding of this service which is so important for businesses and other commuters in the south west.

I am pleased to say that the Transport Secretary has confirmed that the service will continue beyond May as part of the government's investment in transport infrastructure in the region.

I am really ambitious for Gloucester's growth and ensuring businesses and commuters can access the city with ease is an essential part of this. This move doesn't fix every challenge facing our rail service, but it's another win for Gloucester.

It’s the day after the budget and the dust is still settling.
So far, the verdict is that it wasn't as bad as it could have been for businesses. We have been bracing for this budget for 6 months and the government have been preparing us for the worst, grinding the economy to a halt. The minimum wage rises they announced will push up the cost to do business, push up prices for customers as well as make the job market even tougher as businesses scale back their workforce.
What is really troubling is the lack of policies to create more jobs, to get people back into work and put money in working people's pockets. Standard of living is predicted to flatline until the end of this decade meaning restrictions on peoples spending and stripping back to only buying the essentials. Freezing income tax thresholds will also hold back real wage growth and make this even worse.
The UK in a consumer economy, consumers are feeling the pinch and this will not get better unless these issues are addressed.
