🎃 Looking for something to keep the little ones busy while you shop this half term?

We’ve set up a little colouring corner in our Cheltenham shop, just by the children’s section. There are colouring sheets and pencils for them to enjoy while you have a browse. 🖍️💚

Our Cheltenham shop is also taking part in Peter Ball & Co Pumpkin Passport, running from 24th October to 1st November. Children can visit participating local businesses to collect stamps, and once they’ve collected 9, they can win a sweet trick or treat! 🍬

Pop in, get colouring and see what you can find in store. We’d love to see you! 💚

✂️🧵 After only three sessions at Emmaus Gloucestershire’s Stitched Up! sewing class for men, our enthusiastic sewing newbies have all completed a dignity bag for donation to Gloucestershire NHS Trust.

The bags represent a great deal of learning for our five sewists, who have rapidly learnt how to thread and operate sewing machines, understand seams and seam allowances and the importance of fabric only scissors.

All five return every week to The People Shed, in Barnwood Road Gloucester, and some have started taking their work home too!

After completing the bags the team learned about patterns, pattern markings and cutting out, in preparation for next week's project ……..🥁🥁……………making their own shirts ✂️🧵👕

Volunteer Workshop Trainer Martin said: "I'm amazed at how enthusiastic the guys are. Every week they return having done lots of research yet with hundreds of questions for me! Everyone is making good progress and growing their skills and confidence, which is great, but I'm also delighted at the gentle but positive chat that continues non-stop all session. It might be hard to tell them that the course eventually has to end."

📢 We're Hiring - People Shed & Volunteer Coordinator 📢

Are you a people person who enjoys building relationships, organising projects and making things happen?

We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive People Shed & Volunteer Coordinator to join the team at Emmaus Gloucestershire.

This is not a desk-based administrative role.

One minute you could be welcoming a corporate volunteer team and delivering a health and safety induction. The next, you could be supporting volunteers at The People Shed, developing community projects, building relationships with local businesses or identifying new opportunities that benefit the people and communities we support.

✅ Salary: £27,300 per annum - 37.5 hours/week Mon-Fri (with occasional weekend work)
✅ Blue Light Card eligibility
✅ Workplace pension
✅ Training and development opportunities
✅ A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference

📍 Based in our Community Offices in Gloucester with regular travel to The People Shed, Barnwood.

🚗 A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

The role also involves travel to our other sites in Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham and Nailsworth, as well as attending meetings, training and events across Gloucestershire.

We're looking for someone who is:
✔ Organised and proactive
✔ Confident communicating with a wide range of people
✔ Comfortable building relationships with businesses and community partners
✔ IT literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
✔ Passionate about supporting people and strengthening communities
