We’re really pleased to see this new national campaign encouraging more people to consider fostering, as laid out by MP Josh MacAlister!

We see every day the difference a foster carer can make to a child’s life. And we know that you don’t have to fit a particular mould to be one.

We warmly welcome the ambition to create 10,000 more foster places, alongside better support for existing foster carers. Because finding more people willing to foster is important, but making sure they feel supported every step of the way matters just as much.

It's very encouraging to see quality fostering being treated as the priority it is, and support any government initiative that helps create a better life for all young people 🩷

in fostering doesn't have to just be about pouring through studies, or completing every training module. It could be that the biggest lessons come from what you learn about yourself as a person, whether it be how you celebrate the joys, or how you respond to the challenges that come your way.

Introspection and learning is something we encourage in all of our carers, and do everything that we can to help it blossom. 🩷

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at The Gregson Centre in Lancaster last night for their charity quiz!

A huge thanks to all staff and carers for representing Community Foster Care across two teams, and to Quizmaster Phil for a brilliant evening and for making us feel so welcome! We’re absolutely delighted and grateful for the £67.56 raised through quiz entry fees, which will go towards Christmas activities for the young people we support!

As part of our Fostering Differently campaign and our Learn Relentlessly month, we’re sharing this really interesting research into lasting relationships in foster care.

The research explores what helps relationships between foster carers and children continue and develop over time, including the importance of belonging, everyday family life, empathy, home and the support that can continue into adulthood.

For us, learning is a fundamental part of fostering. It means staying curious, listening to research and, most importantly, being willing to reflect on what we do and ask ourselves: how can we do this better?

We never want to become complacent in our approach to fostering. Every child and young person brings their own experiences, needs and hopes, and our practice needs to keep evolving alongside them.

That’s why we’re committed to learning relentlessly, sharing knowledge, challenging our thinking and continually looking for ways to make a positive difference to the young people we care for.

We thought this research was well worth a read and wanted to share it with our fostering community.
