🎊Donation News!

🪛We are so excited to share that we recently received a fantastic donation of kit for our volunteer refurbishers to use in our weekly workshops. The equipment has been provided by iFixit.

iFixit.com is an online community and e-commerce platform that provides free, wiki-style repair guides for electronics, appliances, and other consumer goods.

💬Kris, their Community Manager told us, “the work you're doing, refurbishing devices for people who need them and giving your volunteers a place to build confidence and skills, is exactly the kind of mission we like to support”.

👉We love their philosophy of ‘never take broken for an answer’.

💙It's always lovely to get an email like this, to know that our support is creating positive change in people's lives.

🌟This client picked up one of our leaflets in the library and joined one of our free digital support groups. He attended five sessions and worked through the online learning platform, Learn My Way.

🧹 Having a Bank Holiday tidy up??
📱 Got a drawer full of unwanted cables and old phones?
♻️ Do your bit for the environment (and your drawers! 😂) and grab all those cables, any old phones and tablets, pop them in a bag and drop them off at The Bureau, Glossop on Henry St. (open again on Tuesday)
💚 PCrefurb can make sure that they are securely and sustainably recycled and saved from ending up in landfill. 💪🌍

🎊We’re delighted to celebrate the success of one of our digital skills clients, who has recently secured employment! 👏

Karen attended our free Web2Work sessions at The Bureau, Glossop. She built her confidence with basic digital skills and received a laptop, which she used for job searching, research and learning.

We helped Karen adapt her CV by converting it from PDF to Word, making it easier to update and tailor for job applications. She registered on the online learning platform 'Learn My Way' and successfully completed training in Working with Office Programmes – Spreadsheets, Documents and Presentations – as well as Employment & Work, receiving a certificate for her achievements. 🏆

Reflecting on her experience, she said:

“Brilliant service which has helped me with learning Microsoft and helped me with a donated laptop which will help me massively with job searching.”

We’re so proud to have supported her journey and wish her every success in her new role! 🌟
