For families with a medically complex child, something as simple as a holiday can feel out of reach.
We’re so grateful to Travel Weekly UK for helping shine a light on the urgent need for accessible holiday options, and for supporting our beautiful cause.

For many of the families we support, a holiday hasn’t yet been possible. That’s why we are so driven to complete the Retreat - a place designed for life- limted, medically complex children and their families.

A place to make memories, spend precious time together and built around their unique needs.

Together we can make holidays possible.

To donate contact [email protected] or drop us a message.

With heartfelt gratitude,
The Team at Reuben’s Retreat.

For some families we support, a trip to the beach can feel inaccessible and impossible to navigate, so we recently brought the beach to our Retreat, courtesy of some sensory sand and fascinating sea creatures.

Our rock pool experts provided a wealth of knowledge and two tanks of starfish, sea urchins and hermit crabs, that families were able to interact with.

We were supported by two wonderful volunteers during the event, our very own lobster and Nemo, who brought giggles and joy to the room and ensured everyone had a 'splashing' time!

One parent shared how unique an experience this was for her and her child, when she noted, "We had a great day and loved the sea creature experience. We've never done anything like this before. Thank you very much."

The privilege of walking alongside families as they make memories and draw support from one another at our events is what underpins and strengthens our cause.

They say the heart that gives gathers …

I for one am extremely grateful to every single heart that gifts to us and especially this week as we celebrate our amazing volunteers.

“Everybody has something to bring to Reuben’s Retreat” is a quote I often use and I am overwhelmed by the myriad of magnificent hearts that grace our journey.

I regularly rely on our Trustee board, the hours that they have gifted across the many years must run into thousands upon thousands. There isn’t a day that goes by that isn’t blessed by a voluntary heart in some way. A social media like or share, manning a stall, supporting our families, driving the bus, clearing our drives, tending to our gardens, counting vital pennies.

Many hands do indeed make light work, but many hearts are a true army of love for the greater good.

Thank you to every heart that has graced our journey with their spare time and compassionate soul, past, present and future.

Thank you to all our REUBENeers!

To mark National Volunteers Week, we welcomed and celebrated our volunteers, who are such important part of enabling us to support our families the way we do.

It was a lovely occasion, providing the opportunity for our volunteers to get to know each other and share their passion for our cause.

From volunteers who have been part of our journey for over a decade to those just beginning to discover the rewarding opportunities available as a valued REUBENeer. It was a privilege to come together and share love and appreciation from the bottom of our Reu-blue hearts.
