Lifelink Lifelink supports individuals to be healthier and happier wherever they live, work or learn.

As a social enterprise charity Lifelink exists to provide an early and crisis intervention, stress management, mental health improvement, emotional resilience and personal development service, within a supportive and accessible therapeutic environment, in particular but not exclusively in areas of high deprivation and for people and communities most affected by health inequalities. Our focus is on providing a high-quality, client –centred service for young people and adults based on the holistic and social model of health. To ensure this, we work extensively in building and maintaining high quality partnerships and relationships with a wide range of strategic and delivery partners and networks to support a community development approach to service delivery. We operate our services in response to commissioned work, grant funded programmes, service level agreements and new partnership agreements.

Being creative is a great way to support your mental health and wellbeing ✏️🎨

Drawing, doodling, painting, writing, music, crafting or simply making something with your hands can give your mind a chance to slow down and focus on something different.

Creative activities can help us:
🧠 Take a break from busy thoughts
🌱 Express ourselves in different ways
😌 Relax and reduce stress
💭 Make space for reflection
✨ Do something simply because we enjoy it

You don't need to create a masterpiece. Sometimes, the value is in the process, not the finished product.

So, for National Doodle Day, why not pick up a pen and see where it takes you?

And here's a few doodles from the Lifelink team to get you started… 👀

Some of our Lifelink team out and about at the Springburn Street Festival last week, organised by Spirit of Springburn.

It was fantastic to see the local community coming together for a day of activities, food, music and plenty of things to get involved in. We loved being part of it and having the chance to meet and chat with people from the local community.

The street festival even popped up in the Glasgow Reporter, where you can read more: https://theglasgowreporter.co.uk/2026/09/springburn-community-celebrates-annual-street-festival/ #

Sharing this post from our friends over at Samaritans on World Su***de Prevention Day

Talking openly about experiences of suicidal thoughts and mental health can be incredibly difficult, but sharing those experiences can help others feel less alone, make conversations easier and let people know that they don’t have to struggle in silence.

If you or someone you know is in crisis and needs immediate support, you can contact NHS 24 on 111, Samaritans on 116 123 or Breathing Space on 0800 83 85 87.

“A few years ago, I was really struggling. I was working 80-100 hour weeks in a very senior role which came with a lot of pressure. Having been away all week, I’d get home at weekends and need to squeeze family time into two days, alongside managing a million and one other things. It felt like a constant treadmill of trying to please everyone else and living up to expectations. I felt tired, burnt out and broken. It was from here that things started to go wrong.”

“Although this wasn’t the reality, I started to feel like I was the root cause of every problem and if I removed myself, that would fix everything. I tried to access support from my GP and found it near impossible. It seemed that because I was managing to go into work every day, I had a nice house and kids, there was nothing to worry about. To them I was just a bit tired, I wasn’t dying.”

“One evening, when I was away on a work trip, I decided I was going to end my life. I headed out and was crossing the road unobservantly when a taxi stopped me. The driver must’ve recognised that something wasn’t right. He got out and started to chat to me, asking if I was OK and what was going on. He then went back to his taxi and got a card with the number for Samaritans. He said something like, ‘you need to talk to someone, so talk to Samaritans.’ I wandered around for about an hour and a half, as I didn’t know what I was going to say if I called. I felt like I needed to have a story prepared.”

“I don’t remember much about that first call. I couldn’t say if the first call was a man or woman I spoke to, but they helped me get through the night. It helped me go to bed and try again the next day.”

“It’s all very subtle and Samaritans don’t really tell you anything, but they listen and enable you to offload – they’re a safety net. Sometimes, I think that’s all people need. At that point I felt like I had nowhere else to go. It’s very hard to say to your wife, we’ve got this wonderful life, but I’m utterly depressed, because it feels like an insult.”

“If I hadn’t called that night, I might’ve just wandered around feeling slightly distracted by my interaction with the taxi driver, but I would’ve been back in that same place a few days later, about to do something drastic. It seems a bit dramatic to say I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for that conversation, but that is the reality.”

Thank you so much to Paul for sharing his story for World Su***de Prevention Day and showing that su***de isn’t inevitable and that suicidal thoughts can be interrupted.

Our Lifelink Workwell team recently delivered Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) to the team at SSF, helping build practical skills and confidence around su***de prevention.

Training like this is one of the ways we can help organisations create environments where people feel more able to notice, ask, listen and support when someone may be struggling.

If you’d like to build your own mental health knowledge, our next upcoming course is a virtual Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) taking place on 1st & 2nd October.

The course is open to everyone with no previous mental health experience being needed, and will be delivered entirely online, with certification provided on completion.

Find out more and book your place: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1997155217016?aff=oddtdtcreator

Su***de prevention starts with having the confidence to talk.

Recently, we had the opportunity to deliver Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) to the team at SSF.

ASIST is an evidence-based two-day programme that helps participants develop the skills and confidence to recognise when someone may be at risk of su***de, have a conversation about su***de, and support them towards safety and further help.

For us, training like this is about more than completing a course. It’s about building workplaces and organisations where people feel more able to notice, ask, listen and support when someone may be struggling.

With World Su***de Prevention Day on 10 September, it’s a timely reminder that we all have a role to play in changing the conversation around su***de, and that having the right skills can make a difference.

A big thank you to Scottish Sports Futures for investing in su***de prevention and for welcoming our trainers.
