Winter Coats for Kids Appeal

❗️Clothing donation request❗️If you are in or around the G66 area, and having a clear out of clothing this weekend, please could you consider our service?

We have a number of pick ups arranged on Monday, with space for some more, and we collect from you. We are particularly short of the following:

💛 footwear, including trainers - all sizes.
💛Club uniforms - particularly Guides and Brownies.

The above is not exhaustive- we are always in need of clothing/footwear for ALL ages.

Our winter coats campaign is ongoing and we are grateful for jackets and coats (including adults).

🧥 A huge thank you to the team at Royal Bank of Scotland, Kirkintilloch.🧥

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our Winter Coats for Kids Appeal, including a very kind collection of jackets, a generous monetary donation and the ongoing support as a jacket/coat donation point.

The jacket rail remains in the Kirkintilloch branch, making it really easy to donate — simply pop a clean, pre-loved jacket or coat onto the rail when you are passing or visiting the branch.

We welcome jackets in all sizes and age ranges, from little ones right through to older teenagers. Every donation helps us make sure good quality coats are passed on to children and young people who need them.

Thank you to everyone at RBS Kirkintilloch, and to the wider community who continue to support our appeal. 💙

🌟More than just a coat………

This weekend had us thinking about the importance of a suitable jacket/coat. Here are some thoughts:

🧥 A coat is more than just an item of clothing.

For many of us, putting on a warm, waterproof coat before leaving the house is something we barely think about. It’s easy to take for granted what having the right coat allows us to do.

For a child or young person, a suitable coat can mean being able to:

• Walk to school warm and dry
• Spend time outside with friends
• Take part in outdoor activities and school trips
• Wait for a bus without being cold and wet
• Get out and about during the colder months
• Feel comfortable and confident alongside their peers

Without one, everyday things can become barriers.

At Winter Coats for Kids Appeal, we believe every child and young person should have access to a warm, weatherproof coat that fits them properly.

Sometimes something as simple as a coat can make everyday life that little bit easier. 🧥❄️

🧥 We are very grateful for the flurry of coat donations received over the weekend, with a few more collections arranged for tomorrow.

One particular collection of donations had an emotional story behind it. While we won’t go
into detail about the circumstances, there is something very positive in knowing that these items can now be passed on to someone who needs them.

Thank you, as always, to everyone who donates and supports our service. Every coat donated gets another opportunity to keep someone warm. 🧥

🌟Could you spare a little time to help make a big difference?

Winter Coats for Kids Appeal is looking to welcome an additional Trustee to join our small, friendly team as we continue to develop the organisation and support charitable status.

We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for helping children and families across the West of Scotland and who would like to help shape the future of the appeal. Previous trustee experience isn’t essential – commitment, integrity and a willingness to contribute are what matter most.

The role of a trustee includes:
🧥 Helping provide strategic direction and oversight for the organisation.
🧥 Supporting decisions that further our aims and benefit the communities we serve.
🧥 Helping ensure the organisation is well managed, accountable and sustainable.
🧥 Preparing for the responsibilities that come with becoming a registered charity.
🧥 Attending occasional trustee meetings and contributing your skills, ideas and experience.

This is a voluntary role and a wonderful opportunity to be part of the next stage of Winter Coats for Kids Appeal as we continue to grow and develop.

Did you know that the summer holiday period is typically the busiest time for jacket/coat donations ? It also means we can be very well prepared for meeting referral demands later in the year.
