END OF THE YEAR

Last night to celebrate the end of the BB year, Anchor Boys and Junior Section took part in some Mini golf at Braehead Xscape.

The boys had lots of fun and congratulations to those who achieved a hole in one - Jackson, Kenneth, MJ, Kenny, Alan & David

We hope to see you all back in September

👑 🎉 KINGS BADGE RECIPIENT 👑 🎉

On behalf of all the Boys and officers at the 16th Glasgow Boys’ Brigade, I would like to congratulate our company’s newest recipient of the Kings Badge, Andrew Perrett.

Andrew received his award on Thursday evening at Glasgow City Chambers in a fitting civic reception where 73 other young men from across Scotland were presented their awards from Battalion President, Brian McAlinden and Brigade President Rev Dez Johnston.

Andrew has been a dedicated member of the company from Anchor Boys, Junior Section and Company Section and has worked hard to gain our company’s first Kings Badge since 1952 when Daniel Warren & Thomas Kerr received their awards.

A lot has changed within our company’s first Kings and indeed the world in those 74 years however one thing that remains is the hard work and dedication a young man needs to exert in order to earn that badge.

Last night the boys at Juniors & Anchors played a game of foot-pool, essentially the same rules of the game of pool except on a much larger scale and using your foot instead of a cue.

The boys helped set up by placing the tables to create the large scale “pool table” and had a couple games in their teams using strategy and initiative.

As we were off last week due to the school holidays, we then discussed the story and purpose of Lent and what it means to us as Christians as we begin this period.

140 years ago today on 21st December 1885, the 16th Glasgow Boys' Brigade held its first meeting at Whitevale Free Church in the Gallowgate, Glasgow.

The company later moved to Gorbals MacNicol Memorial church in 1900 and finally to our current home in Croftfoot Parish Church in 1938.

Throughout the years we have had an array of talented boys and Officers with many memories of countless football teams, pipe bands, Bible study classes as well as regular section nights.

The company continues to this day as we teach independence skills, take part in community projects, encourage charity work and learn new skills.

Let’s hope for another 140 years still to come!

PANTO 2025

Earlier today a group of Anchors & Junior section boys attended the Panto show, Jack & the Beanstalk at Rutherglen Town Hall

The boys seemed to have a wonderful time seeing Jack defeat the Giant and marry Princess Lulu
