Match Report: Partick Thistle vs EKYM FFIT
Kirktonholme Park
Partick Thistle kicked off their debut match against EKYM FFIT at Kirktonholme Park in what proved to be an entertaining and competitive encounter.
The game started evenly, with both teams playing open football and creating chances at either end. For long periods, neither side could break the deadlock. However, late in the first half, Thistle switched off on a couple of occasions and failed to track runners, allowing EKYM to swarm the defence and score twice to take a 2–0 lead into the interval.
Despite the setback, Thistle regrouped well and never let their heads drop. They played their way back into the match with determination and quality. Mark Leith, operating in the unfamiliar position of right-back, turned provider twice within ten minutes, setting up Ozzy Richards for two well-taken goals to level the score.
The game remained highly competitive, with play flowing from end to end. Thistle then took advantage of a set-piece opportunity after Mark Leith won a free kick on the right-hand side. David Drummond reacted quickly, taking the free kick deep inside his own half and releasing Iain Whittle through on goal. Whittle kept his composure and calmly slotted the ball home to give Thistle the lead.
In a tiring but never-ending contest, Thistle showed great character to hold on and secure their first victory in their first game.
The match was played in a competitive yet sporting manner by both teams. We would like to thank EKYM FFIT for their hospitality and look forward to welcoming them for the return fixture in July, when the teams meet again

Scottish Cup Round 2
Partick Thistle 10–2 Valley Vets
Partick Thistle booked their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup with an impressive 10-2 victory over Valley Vets in an entertaining and competitive encounter.
Thistle came out from the first whistle looking sharp and immediately took control of possession and territory. Despite their bright start, it was Valley Vets who struck first when a dangerous cross drifted all the way through the box and nestled inside the far post to give the visitors an early lead.
The setback only seemed to spur Thistle on. Mark Johnston drew the sides level and from that point onwards the tie looked to be heading only one way. Thistle moved the ball well, created chances at will and played some excellent attacking football throughout the match.
A number of flowing moves and clinical finishes saw the goals continue to arrive, with Thistle maintaining control of the game and showing quality all over the pitch. Valley Vets continued to battle hard and never let their heads drop, but were unfortunately hampered by a number of injuries which disrupted their rhythm and made an already difficult task even tougher.
Despite the scoreline, the match was played in an excellent spirit by both teams, with plenty of commitment, respect and sportsmanship on show throughout.
Everyone at Partick Thistle would like to thank Valley Vets for a good, competitive game and wish them the very best for the remainder of the season.
