Partick Thistle 3–2 Giffnock
A tense start to the game saw Partick Thistle enter the match still carrying the effects of last week’s defeat. With the league title still attainable, the pressure was there to be seen, particularly against a strong Giffnock side.
Giffnock came out strongly, with their pace on the wings causing early concerns for Thistle. However, as usual, Partick were very much in the game, although the tension was visible.
Giffnock opened the scoring after getting in behind the Partick defence and delivering a cross across the face of goal, giving their striker a simple finish.
However… RESOLVE.
Partick Thistle have shown their resolve many times this season, and when they are up against it, it often brings the best out of the boys. And react they did.
The game remained 1–0, with both teams continuing to threaten, but just before half-time, Thistle found their equaliser. The season’s top scorer stood up once again as Joe Conetta produced another moment of magic, dancing his way through the box before finding himself in front of an empty net and calmly rolling the ball home.

Coming out for the second half, the boys lifted their drive, passion and determination to go and win the game. Thistle began to take more control, although Giffnock were never out of the contest.
Then came another moment of magic.
A corner delivered towards the front post was met by Kenny McKay, whose effort flew into the opposite corner at a physics-defying angle, sticking right in the junction of the net.
Kenny has stood up when it counts over the past three games, and this was his third goal in as many games. Another huge contribution when the team needed it most.
Partick continued to push and were rewarded with a third goal. Scott Gemmell, returning to the starting line-up and clearly determined to show exactly why he deserves his place, had a hugely influential game.
Finding himself out on the right, Scott cut inside before unleashing a bending, searing strike into the opposite corner.
Three games. Three Goal of the Season contenders.
And this one was certainly up there challenging for the award.
But Giffnock weren't ready to let the game go.
After play was stopped due to a serious injury to a Giffnock player, Thistle were unable to clear their lines following the resulting restart and free kick, allowing Giffnock to pull another goal back.
The remaining 15 minutes were nervy.
Giffnock piled on the pressure, forcing Partick to defend desperately and dig deep. But once again, the boys showed their resolve.
The final whistle went.

A huge three points and another demonstration of the character running through this team.
We wish Giffnock all the very best for the remainder of the season, and everyone at Partick Thistle would also like to wish Giffnock’s number 14 a speedy recovery. We have since learned that the injury is more serious than initially hoped, and our thoughts are with the player.
Unfortunately, Partick suffered an injury of their own, with our Vice-Captain and midfield engine, Paul Reid, forced off early. We hope this does not prove to be a long-term absence for the team.

Congratulations to our Players' MOTM winners.
David McLaughlin was recognised for his calm and commanding display at centre-half, providing the composure.
Scott Gemmell was also recognised following his bursting return to the starting line-up. His control, link-up play, influence and, of course, his Goal of the Season contender showed that he is certainly not to be forgotten about.
Another massive performance from the boys.
Another comeback.
Another display of RESOLVE.

It’s Glasgow Wellington for our first meeting of the season, after our original fixture was rescheduled due to Scottish Cup fixtures.
The title dream is still alive.
