Healing for the Heart

Healing for the Heart Healing for the Heart provides a range of counselling and inner healing options tailor made for you.

Healing for the Heart is a community based mental health service. We provide a safe space in which to deal with the effect which life events have had on an individual. Our counselling service, offers 1:1 sessions with a trained counsellor. We use an integrative approach which is tailor made to the needs of the client, drawing on person centred, psychodynamic and CBT techniques. Many of our counsellors are experienced in working with complex trauma and we are happy to discuss this if this with you if it is something that you wish to pursue. Saorsa is our inner healing service which offers a prayer based ministry. Saorsa (pronounced 'Soor-suh') is the Gaelic word for 'Freedom, liberty, redemption' and our Saorsa service offers just this from the perspective of a Christian world-view. Saorsa is not a counselling service and appointments are offered by trained, volunteer facilitators. Made 4 More is our supported volunteering project which helps people to re-establish meaningful connections which may have been affected by emotional or mental health issues. Volunteers join us for a 12 week group programme which helps them to pursue individual goals and targets.

๐Ÿ‚ Hello, October ๐Ÿ‚

A new month, a new season and a reminder that change can actually be good.

As summer fades into autumn, nature shows us that letting go is part of growth.
Change can feel uncomfortable. We often fear the unknown and hold tightly to what feels familiar. But sometimes, making space for something new is exactly what we need.

Therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect and gently explore what you might be ready to let go of - and what you want to carry with you into the next season. ๐Ÿ If this is something you'd like to explore, we are here.

You donโ€™t have to fear every change. Some changes make space for growth.

As September comes to an end, letโ€™s keep listening, connecting and supporting recovery in Glasgow all year round. ๐Ÿ’š

You spoke. We listened. Now weโ€™re taking action. ๐Ÿ˜˜

โ˜ฎ๏ธ International Day of Peace โœŒ๏ธ

Peace isnโ€™t just about what happens around us - itโ€™s also about what happens within us. Today, weโ€™re encouraged to pursue both internal peace and peace in our relationships, communities and the world around us.

Choose kindness. Make space to listen. Let go where you can. And take time to nurture a little more peace within yourself. ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ’ฌ Your Voice, Your Recovery: What did we do?

As part of the project, we brought people together in groups to:

๐ŸŒฑ Broaden understanding of the links between mental health and addiction recovery
๐Ÿ’ก Share insights and experiences from those with lived experience
๐Ÿ“š Explore psychoeducation around wellbeing, resilience and recovery
๐Ÿค Build connection and community through shared conversations

The focus was on creating a space to learn from one another, share experiences and explore what can support sustained recovery.

Stay tuned as we share what we found and the key insights from the project. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒฑ September is Recovery Month ๐Ÿ’ช

This month, weโ€™d like to highlight a project run by our wonderful Community Development team entitled 'Your Voice, Your Recovery'. This was a collaboration between North West Glasgow Recovery Communities and Healing for the Heart, exploring the connection between mental health and recovery from addiction.

It's common knowledge that sustained recovery is strengthened not only by reducing substance use, but through emotional wellbeing, resilience and connection. With this in mind, the project aimed to listen to and learn from the recovery community, helping to shape support around the experiences of those who use it.

Over the remainder of the month, weโ€™ll be sharing highlights, insights, feedback and learning from the project. For today, here are some of the goals we set out to achieve through this project.

Because recovery support starts with listening and we believe these voices deserve to be heard. ๐Ÿ’š
