Kelvingrove Ceilidh Band featuring caller and fiddler Kae Sakurai, this promises to be a breathtaking and joyous finale to our programme. Come along and join us, as
a tale or two will be shared, a dram will be drunk, and a willow will be stripped!

Sit down, I’ll tell you a story. Maggie Osborne made a deal with the devil to bring prosperity to Ayr high street, and built a business in just one night with Auld H***y himself. The deal was a cracker and the town boomed, so the people burnt Maggie alive. The deal broke and whilst I’m not saying any of this is true… just look at the state of Scotland’s high streets now. Call a town meeting!

A highly physical storytelling performance from Shona Cowie, with original live music from accordionist Neil Sutcliffe.

The Fires That Breathe:

The Fires That Breathe / by Oren Shoesmith, Evie Waddell and Tania Allen
June 4th, 5pm

For one performance only three storytellers, performers, musicians come together. Bound by the fire inside, Oren Shoesmith, Evie Waddell and Tania Allan meld their unique styles to breathe life into stories and songs inspired by courage, diversity and resilience.

Oren Shoemith is a storyteller, artist and writer from Cornwall, living in Glasgow. His work focuses on unruly lands and unruly bodies. Evie Waddell is a Gaelic and Scots singer, and fiddler hailing from Stirlingshire.

Tania Allan is a storyteller and creative practitioner based in Midlothian, Born deaf, her first language is British Sign Language, her work straddles the porous boundary between culturally deaf and culturally hearing worlds, borrowing from the folklore of the dominant culture to explore deaf experience.

Glasgow’s biennial Contemporary and Community Storytelling Festival brings together an exciting range of events, offering something for everyone.

We will kick off our festivities on our home turf with the amazing Pollok Kite Fest on Sunday 24th May. Pollok Hill will be a sea of colour with arts & crafts, performance and, of course, kites!

News: Kelvingrove Ceilidh band from members of Kelvingrove Dancers will be playing at the ceilidh! It will be great night, hope to see some familiar faces there.

We are excited to share the dates of our upcoming VILLAGE STORYTELLING FESTIVAL 2026, Glasgow’s Contemporary and Community Storytelling Festival.
In keeping with our theme of Voices of Change we have some changes of our own...

This time we will kick things off on our home turf (quite literally) in Pollok with our famous KITE FEST on SUNDAY MAY 24th. And our city centre based festival has a new home!

This year we will be hosting a brilliant programme of performance, exhibitions and screenings, as well as a full day symposium at THE BOARDWALK,
from WEDNESDAY 3rd to SATURDAY 6th JUNE. And we will finish in true Scottish style with an epic Ceilidh at the Recital Rooms, City Halls on the Saturday night.

Pop those dates in your diary and keep your eyes peeled for the release of our programme on April 22nd.
