Camilla shares how the Sands community supported her after her daughter Grace died during birth 16 years ago and reflects on Sandsrunclub_glasgow πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

β€œI never exercised at all prior to having Grace. I hated it.

"But after Grace died, I ran the half marathon in Glasgow, and a group of about 20 family and friends all did a 10K race that year as well for Grace and for Sands and that kind of kicked me off as a runner.

"So, I always say Grace made me a mum and made me a runner. She’s some girl!"

It's Volunteers' Week, and we're sharing the stories of our amazing Sands volunteers across the UK and the impact they have in their communities πŸ’œπŸ§‘

Last weekend, our CEO Sarah laced up her running shoes and joined the Sands Glasgow Run Club for their monthly park run. Every month they run in memory of a baby, this month it was in memory of baby Theo. πŸ’œ

A huge thank you to our friends at Sands Glasgow Run Club for creating such a welcoming and supportive space for bereaved families, friends, and supporters. πŸ‘ŸπŸ’œ

Welcome June and its volunteer’s week! Our founding member of our run club, Camilla, worked with the Glasgow Times to write and inspiring article which allowed her to navigate her grief via our run club. We can celebrate volunteers week with the biggest thank you to all our volunteers who offer their time in supporting others. Fundamentally, without our volunteers we would not be able to offer bereavement support to other families and our Glasgow Sands Group would not exist. πŸ”— Please find the link to the article here https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/26150848.glasgow-woman-inspired-start-running-club-loss-daughter/

πŸ—“οΈ Our next support meeting is on Wednesday 3rd June from 19.00 till 21.00. The address is Woodlands Community Development Trust, 66 Ashley Street Glasgow G3 6HW.
