Beatson Cancer Charity

Beatson Cancer Charity We exist to enhance the experience, treatment, outcomes and wellbeing of all current and former Beatson patients and their families.

We want to make things better for everyone affected by cancer. Firstly by ensuring the best care for the 8,000 patients seen by the Beatson every year and supporting their friends and family, and secondly by funding pioneering research which could lead to breakthroughs to help everyone in the UK living with cancer. Company Overview

The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow is the seco

nd largest cancer treatment unit in the UK, and the busiest. Beatson Cancer Charity is the only charity exclusively dedicated to supporting the centre to help in the fight against cancer locally, nationally and internationally. After all, one in three people in the UK will be directly affected by cancer at some point in their lives – and more than two million people in the UK are currently living with it. At the heart of the charity is the passion and commitment of its people, striving to help beat cancer. So we raise money for cancer treatment, care and research – three quarters of a million pounds each year, for instance, goes on funding extra staff. Clinical nurses and radiography staff who give the best possible service to people going through the traumatic, stressful and life-changing experience of having cancer. The charity also supports the centre’s clinical and laboratory research, looking into the causes of cancer and investigating possible new treatments. General Information

Graeme Nelson and a group of friends took on the challenge of walking the West Highland Way in memory of their friend and family member, Derrick Hay, who they sadly lost last September.

What became known as 'A Walk for Del' saw the group spend six days on the hills, pushing themselves through one of the toughest challenges some of them had ever faced. Together, they have smashed their original target and so far have raised an incredible £9,600 for Beatson Cancer Charity!

Their journey was about much more than reaching the finish line. It was an opportunity to remember Derrick, celebrate his life, and come together for a cause that means so much to them all.

Thank you to everyone involved for your amazing support, determination and generosity. We are incredibly grateful that you chose to support Beatson Cancer Charity in Derrick's memory. 💛

🏆 Congratulations to Tracey Howe on being named Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Scotland Awards.

In memory of her late wife, Angela, Tracey completed an incredible 5,000-mile walk around the coastline of mainland Britain, taking more than 1.2 million steps and raising nearly £70,000 for five charities: Beatson Cancer Charity, Marie Curie UK, brainstrust, CoppaFeel! and Breast Cancer Now.

Throughout her challenge, Tracey inspired thousands of people with her determination, kindness and unwavering commitment to honouring Angela's memory.

This award is a fitting recognition of an extraordinary achievement and the difference one person can make.
