The Re-Tune project is committed to helping people reclaim their potential, develop new skills and make positive and productive life cha
nges. We believe in the transformative power of music and creativity. Developing skills and learning a traditional craft, open up future possibilities and offer challenges that can help transform lives and communities. Re-tune offers the first step towards entry level education and training, as well as signposting the way to other beneficial statutory and voluntary agencies, depending on the individual’s needs and abilities. Each person taking part will be taught fine woodworking skills and the discipline of a musical instrument whilst developing essential core skills and a cohesive, personalised move on plan. During the process of teaching people to make, repair and play stringed instruments we will also work towards developing their sense of well-being. Increasing social skills to help reduce isolation, boost self-confidence and encourage individuals to communicate feelings and emotions in a positive manner which, in turn, will help build strong family and social dynamics. Re-tune are currently developing a pilot project specifically for ex-service men and women. This project will be open to veterans aged 18 to 80 and will be launched in 2014. We are also developing a skills exchange programme which will enable people within the community to trade music teaching skills in exchange for workbench and music rehearsal room time. Re-tune are looking for donations of stringed instruments, either working or damaged, as well as woodworking equipment and tools. If you can donate, call 07557 040 363 or email: [email protected]
