Today, on the anniversary his death, we remember the legendary Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928), whose unique vision transformed the landscape of Scottish architecture and design.

Mackintosh’s work continues to shape the creative life of Glasgow, inspiring visitors from across the world. Here at Mackintosh Queen’s Cross, we get to enjoy his genius daily and are proud to be part of that heritage.

On the anniversary of his death, we honour a legacy that remains profoundly alive—not just in the buildings Mackintosh designed or in the art he created, but in the imagination that his work continues to kindle.

Remember, remember the 5th of November…
Belated birthday wishes to the brilliant Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, born on the 5th November 1864!

I’m just back from leave and catching up on all things Mackintosh—what better way to return than by celebrating the woman who helped set the Glasgow Style alight with her luminous creativity! ✨

Margaret was a trailblazer in her own right: a visionary artist, designer, and lifelong creative partner and better half to Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Her ethereal panels, symbolic motifs, and pioneering spirit still inspire us today. Even Charles remarked, “Margaret has genius, I only have talent”.
