This Sunday 4th October, from 3-5pm, there'll be a Rest And Dream Space for People of Colour at Woodlands Community Meeting Room, 66 Ashley Street, G3 6HW.

This is a space for gentle crafting and rest. This month we're inviting people to bring along board/card games to play. There'll be some light refreshments and a cosy corner for snoozing, as always.

This is free and open to all People of Colour aged 18+

Join us on Sunday 1st November for a special Diwali celebration. Diwali is celebrated by people all over the world as a time to mark the triumph of knowledge over ignorance, a time to shine some light in the darkness, and to come together with community in joy and peace 🪔🫂🌟

We will have storytelling from Gauri Raje, crafts for all ages, board games, a Photo Booth, South Asian snacks, a pop up version of our Anti-Racist Library and Anam’s chai in a warm, indoor space! 📸☕️✂️

We also invite you to dress to feel proud of your heritage and culture 🥻🫶🏾

A selection of books from our Anti-Racist library will be available, come along for a chat, to borrow a book or to return one you’ve finished with. There are books for all ages! 📚📕📒

Running alongside the celebrations, our Warm Welcome café will be happening, as usual, from 1-4pm, downstairs in GAMH/Flourish House. Come along for a plant-based, halal meal. Our Warm Welcome Café is free and open to everyone. If you would like to support our work and can afford to donate, you can make a voluntary donation on a sliding scale.

Come along to our anti-racist library, this Sunday, 4th October from 11am-2pm. We'll be at the Woodlands Community Meeting Room at 66 Ashley Street, G3 6HW with books, conversation and more 📚

To mark Black History Month, we will have a zine-making workshop, inspired by Jeffrey Boakye's book "Musical Truth - A Musical Journey Through Modern Black Britain". We'll also be reading from the book ✂

If you have any books that you had borrowed but have now finished with, please return them so others can enjoy them. You can bring them to us at the library on Sunday or drop them into the book returns box in the community garden any time. The garden is open 24/7 🍁

There will also be some information available from the various, grassroots anti-raids networks from across Glasgow

We’re back! This Sunday, 5th September our theme is East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month! Woodlands Anti-Racist Community Library will run from 11AM - 2PM. Depending on the weather, we will either be in Millennium Park or in the Woodlands meeting Room 📚❤️🥳

This week, we are most excited for:
- Readings from a selection of children’s picture books, including “My Night in the Planetarium” by Innosanto Nagara at 11.30am 🪐
- A reading from “Take Away” by Angela Hui at 1:00pm 📕
- Migrants Rights Network workbook “We Keep Each Other Safe” for people to look at, in English and in Arabic 🫂
- The Language Exchange (more info coming soon!) 📢

Ever wondered what's really living in our gardens and green spaces? Join us this Sunday afternoon for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to noticing, observing and recording nature and the environment around us.
No expertise required, just curiosity! Everyone welcome!

WHEN: Sunday August 30th
TIME: 2-4 pm
(please arrive promptly at 2pm for the introduction to the session)
WHERE: Woodlands Community Meeting Room, 66 Ashley St, G3 6HW
COST: Free. Donations Welcome

MORE INFO: Every space, however small, adds to a bigger picture. By looking closely together, we build a shared record of the biodiversity in our community. One that grows richer over time and helps us understand and care for our local green spaces.

What to expect during the session.
As part of the session there will be an introduction to CommuniMap. A digital tool for recording biodiversity and elements of our environment.

There will be two ways to take part:
• On a device: we'll show you a digital application called CommuniMap. This is a digital tool you can use for free for logging what you notice as you go.
• On paper: If you’re not keen on an app, there are paper versions of the platform to record your spots.

What this session is (and isn't). This session is all about noticing - not identifying species.
For anyone interested in taking their nature recording further, we we'll be running a follow-up session on Sunday 27th September where you can find out more about getting help to identify the wildlife you encounter and sharing your observations beyond our community.

We are absolutely delighted that our anti-racist film club will soon be returning, after a long break. We will be screening four films over the autumn/winter months.

All films will be screened at GAMH/Flourish House, from 5.30-9.00pm, with light refreshments and discussion to go alongside every film.

- 17th November - Taste Of Mango (2023)
- 1st December - Sister Midnight (2025)

This week we had a wonderful afternoon spent with our friends and partners at Al Furqan Mosque . We shared some food together, which was picked from our Community Garden, salad leaves & fresh herbs and also enjoyed some falafel from . Our garden volunteers lovingly picked some flowers and fresh herbs from our Community Garden to gift to the Mosque.

We are proud to have this ongoing partnership with our neighbours, and we loved learning more about the amazing community outreach and support they offer.
