Action on Asbestos Annual Memorial Day!

To mark Action Mesothelioma day Action on Asbestos will be hosting it's annual Memorial to remember all those who have died from an asbestos condition. The date is always the first Friday in July and this year it is Friday 3rd July. We meet at the Provands Lordship Gardens, which is the gardens behind the oldest house in Glasgow, at the top of High Street. The event will start at 12 noon. There will be guest speakers from the medical profession and of course a member of the charity will deliver their personal story. You can bring along some flowers to remember your Loved one. Everyone is welcome. Thereafter you are invited to St Mungo's museum for Tea/Coffee.

It is a day when we should meet to remember those who have lost their lives to a preventable condition!!! Please make every effort to attend, as if we don't remember all of them.....who will!

Outstanding support from FRP Advisory !!!

Look at these fabulous people who are helping Action on Asbestos raise lots of funds for the Charity's new network of Pleural Nurses ❤

These guys have done so much already for this new initiative, but they have outdone themselves by taking on the additional task of walking 5 miles everyday, to replicate the distance from between Aberdeen to Cyprus 🥰😘😍

This is simply outstanding, and we are so grateful to all of them; their kindness is overwhelming. One particular person, who must be commended for all her efforts, is Helen Lavin; a truly inspiring person who has been a God send ❤

There will be more updates on this inspiring task and you will hear from some of our nurses within the Charity's new network, who are her to help you. Proud of all of You!!!

Can you help a Posthumous Mesothelioma case????

A recent enquiry to the charity was from the Grandson of a man who sadly passed away 2 years ago from Mesothelioma. The case has come to a point whereby if he cannot find witness to confirm "asbestos exposure" at Stewart & Lloyds/ British Steele from 1960 to 1990, the case will not have a successful outcome. The Grandmother in this case is elderly, therefore her Grandson is trying to pursue this matter on her behalf. Remember folks any potential witness would not have to know this man. The man in question worked in the fuels and furnace department in Coatbridge, Tollcross and Clydesdale during the earlier years at Stewart & Lloyds/British Steele. Please make every effort to help us find some witnesses for this family. You can contact me on 0800 089 1717

Florence's Fundraising!!!!

A great big thank you to Florence Finlayson and her good friend Maggie for raising an amazing £565 for the charity. Florence and Maggie walked 58 miles along St Magnus Way. What an achievement!!!!! This is a fabulous amount to raise and it will certainly goes towards supporting our new network of Nurses that we recently established. You have all been so wonderful and we are truly grateful ❤ If anyone would like to raise funds by organising a cake bake sale, a car boot sale, or even a pub quiz then please let me know as we will support you all the way. Well done Florence 🥰

Action on Asbestos Memorial!

The Charity would like to invite all of our members, their families and friends to our annual Memorial Day which will be held on Friday 3rd July 2026 to mark National Mesothelioma Day. The event will take place at the Provands Lordship Gardens at the top of High Street (behind the oldest house in Glasgow) The Memorial will begin at 12 noon, however we would ask the people be there around 11.50am. Thereafter we are hoping to secure St Mungo's Hall for tea/coffee and biscuits. Please contact Angela on 0141 552 8852 to confirm your attendance.

This event is hosted by the Charity every year to remember all those who have died through no fault of their own, but rather from a preventable condition caused by Asbestos exposure .

Everyone is welcome to attend this event. There will be guest speakers from a range of backgrounds and we will lay a wreath in respect of all of them. Please make every effort to attend this event because if we don't remember these people, who will!

All those attending can bring along some flowers in memory of their loved one.

Florence raises funds for Action on Asbestos!!!!

My friend Maggie and I are planning to walk this long distance path (58 miles) in May 2026 in memory of my partner Ronnie Newlands who died of mesothelioma in August 2021. It would be super if you could follow our progress on the Action on Asbestos socials and help to raise funds for this great cause.

Please help Florence raise much needed funds for our new network of nurses.

International Workers Memorial Day!

Yesterday, 28th April, marked International workers Memorial day. Action on Asbestos travelled to Aberdeen, as we host an event every year in Aberdeen to remember all those who have lost their lives to an asbestos condition.
The Memorial went very well with guest speakers from Union officials to the Deputy Lord Provost of Aberdeen. It was so sad to see all of our clients remembering their Loved ones from a condition that it is preventable.
If anyone has been diagnosed with an asbestos condition please don't hesitate to be in touch 0800 089 1717 Your not alone ❤ Can I ask if everyone would share this

Predict Meso Conference

What a fabulous day yesterday when attending the Predict Meso International conference in Glasgow. So many Medical Professionals getting together to try and find a way to treat those with mesothelioma and to better the prognosis. It was so uplifting to know that these scientists are working extremely hard in the background for all those with this PREVENTABLE condition. I felt really Proud to be there and to listen to their dedication and committment. These Medical Profession do care and it was an honour to stand with them....for you!
