What an amazing bunch of new MVP mentors we have! 💜

After two fantastic days of training, our young people are now fully trained and ready to start delivering Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) after the summer break.

This is now our third year collaborating with Smithycroft Secondary School, and once again we have been blown away by the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work shown by everyone involved.

The conversations over the last two days have been incredible. From gender stereotypes and gender policing, to the realities of growing up in the age of social media and the influence of po*******hy, our young people engaged thoughtfully, respectfully and with real maturity. We also had some really powerful discussions about knife crime and violence in our communities.

None of these topics are easy, especially for young people who are new to MVP. Yet this group embraced every challenge and continually impressed us with their honesty, insight, willingness to learn and courage to have these conversations with younger people in school and the wider community.

It was also lovely to welcome some of our previous mentors back along to support the new group. Seeing young people encouraging and learning from one another is exactly what peer education is all about.

We can't wait to see what this year's mentors achieve. 👏💜

A huge thank you to Kier, SPS and partners for helping raise over £40,000 for SPYF. This support, along with additional help from the Soutar Foundation, will keep the SPYF Molendinar Community Centre open until at least March 2027. Behind the scenes, we're working hard to secure its long-term future while continuing to deliver support for our whole community.

Kier partnered with the Scottish Prison Service and 16 supply chain businesses to host the second HMP Glasgow charity golf day.

This weekend Mel's husband Ossian is running the West Highland Way in one day!! 96 Miles in roughly 24 hrs (no sleep for him!) If you've got a spare few pounds some sponsorship would really cheer him on. What a hero! 🤩👏💪

Today was our last day with Ocean Youth Trust Scotland , giving back to our own community 😎

Our young people decided they’d had enough of the state of the Skatie.

So, litter pickers at the ready, off we went. It quickly became clear it was a bigger job than we’d expected, but Neil came to the rescue with some massive rubble bags. One hour, a lot of elbow grease, and plenty of teamwork later, and our Skatie is looking fantastic again 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Young people often get a hard time, but we couldn’t be more proud of the effort they’ve put in, both today and throughout our sailing trip.

Now the next challenge begins, working with the council and the wider community to help keep it looking this good for everyone to enjoy! 😊

CashBack for Communities Thanks again for making all of this life changing and community empowering work happen 🤩
