A selection of photographs Paul captured of the students at Saint John's School for the Deaf, Serekunda, Gambia, over the past week.this is really what its all been about for Project Gambia: People Feeding People over the past 14 years: ensuring marginalised and disadvantaged children access education through school feeding programmes. Look at these children and know that is us unlikely they would be in a classroom without your support. Education + Food = a route out of poverty for children in developing countries 🇬🇲 🙏

If you are in any doubt that Project Gambia changes lives for the better please watch this short video. Head Teacher of Saint Anthony's Lower Basic School and Nursery School, Marie Ellen Jarjue, and the children at the school tell you just how much the free school dinners they receive from you mean to them. Not only that but the children tell you about the varied menus and options they are presented with thanks to you. What you do through your support of our school feeding programmes is no theoretical abstraction but solid, practical, nutritional, hunger removing, support for young people with little or nothing. Project Gambia: People Feeding People volunteers and supporters have contributed so much and have enabled thousands of children to complete their education. Education + Food = A route out of poverty for children in developing countries 🇬🇲

Project Gambia heads out to The Gambia today into a developing crisis of epic proportions on the back of the America/Israel war with Iran. In a society where farmers depend heavily on imported fertiliser and a huge share of household income goes on food, supply chain disruptions through the strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane not just for oil and gas but also for fertiliser, is beginning to have a massive impact on the price of foodstuffs and is intensifying cost of living pressures.

XN Iraki, a professor of business and economics at the University of Nairobi, said the impact of higher oil prices would be felt “acutely” in Africa because most people on the continent worked in the informal sector, where there was “uncertain income”.This crisis will be significantly worse in The Gambia which is the fifth poorest country in Africa. When Paul Lafferty attempts to conduct business with wholesalers and warehouses to purchase rice and other foodstuffs for Saint John's School for the Deaf, Serekunda, and Saint Anthony's Lower Basic School and Nursery School he will be confronted with significant price rises.

If you can help Project Gambia now there would never be a better time. In a society where hundreds of thousands are one meal away from hunger now is the time. Education + Food = A route out of poverty for children in developing countries
