NANCY (AND BRAVEHOUND JOAN) SHARE THEIR STORY ON WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Today is World Mental Health Day and veteran Nancy and her BRAVEHOUND, Joan, will be on STV News this evening around 6:20pm. Nancy will be sharing how having a BRAVEHOUND assistance dog has transformed her life.

Nancy Shanta served in the Army as a nurse for 20 years and was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan during her military career. Like many of the veterans we support, she was diagnosed with complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and medically discharged. Joan has enabled Nancy to regain her independence and start living life again.

For veterans living with the effects of trauma, a BRAVEHOUND assistance dog can make a life-changing difference.

A huge thank you to Nancy for sharing her story and helping us raise awareness of veterans’ mental health and the difference our dogs can make. 💚🐾

It’s on Friday October 30th with drinks / canapé reception at 6pm and talk beginning at 6.30pm

Major General Tim Hodgetts (Ret) will talk about his career as Head of Medical Services and Surgeon General to the British Army and how writing poetry enabled him to deal with many traumatic and morally injurious experiences. His poetry has been pre- recorded by our Patron, actor Jason Isaacs.

There is a drinks and canapé reception from 6pm, with the event at 6.30pm.
