BRAVEHOUND

BRAVEHOUND BRAVEHOUND supports former servicemen, women & their families. Based in Scotland we provide training & dogs to assist & support veterans. www.bravehound.co.uk

BRAVEHOUND is the canine wing of GLEN ART, who support former servicemen and women and their families. We know that owning a dog can provide companionship, promote taking exercise and a good routine, and we aim match suitable veterans with suitable dogs in order to support the transition into civilian life. We provide all the welfare and training support needed over each
BRAVEHOUND's lifetime.

A BIG THANKS to veteran Brian Crawford and his BRAVEHOUND, Frida.

Brian entered an image of Frida, taken by fellow veteran, Leah Menzies, in a photo competition run by his housing association, Fife Housing Group, and won! Brian very kindly donated the £25 prize to BRAVEHOUND.

We really appreciate his support and those of others who give to our life-saving work.

You can see the winning pic below along with some nice snaps of the duo.

A privilege to attend the Annual Commemoration Service at the Scottish National War Memorial today, to honour the memory of all of the fallen and to lay a wreath in memory of the many animals whose lives have also been lost in the service of our country.

At BRAVEHOUND, we name many of our dogs after dogs awarded the Dickin Medal by the PDSA and while we are a charity that supports veterans, we are acutely aware of the role of animals in our armed forces.

Thank you to Susan Flintoff (Pictured below) for the invitation. Such a moving service and as is so often the case with young people, impressed beyond measure by Lance Corporal Xena Tart of the Edinburgh Academy Combined Cadet Force (pictured below)who read so elegantly and laid a wreath on behalf of all faiths.

Thoughts today are with the families, friends and colleagues of the three Royal Navy service personnel whose lives were so tragically lost this morning in Devon. Thoughts today and for the time ahead as their loss is mourned.

FEMALE VETERANS' DROP-IN 4TH JUNE

Just a wee reminder that our next female veterans’ drop-in is on Thursday 4th June from 5-8pm.

This is a chance to socialise with other ex-servicewomen in an all-female, safe and welcoming environment and get any other support you may need. We will be providing the pizzas and fizz, all you need to do is turn up. You can also bring kids if you have no childcare.

We look forward to seeing our regulars as well as any new women that want to join us!

Some of our team visited HM Naval Base Clyde at Faslane near Helensburgh for Learning at Work Week.

We are extremely grateful to Lt Cdr Garth Atkinson, Regional Learning and Development Officer, for the invitation. Huge thanks to him also for making our Operations Manager, Sarah Plummer, with BRAVEHOUND Gander and the veteran he is partnered with, so welcome.

Donations on the day totalled almost £1,000 and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet the amazing service men and women who serve at there. Thank you all for your service and for making time to meet us.
