New singers very welcome! Cappella Slavonica is a mixed chamber choir, located in Glasgow.

Rehearsals Thursday 7-9pm, Woodside Halls, Glenfarg Street, Glasgow G20 7QE Our wide repertoire is drawn from the rich musical heritage of Eastern Europe, including Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and other countries, much of it sadly unfamiliar in Scotland. Cappella Slavonica has given public performances in numerous prestigious venues, mainly in Glasgow and

Edinburgh; it also makes a significant contribution to the cultural life in Scotland. We warmly welcome new singers. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact us. It is not necessary to know a specific language, and the ability to read music is desirable but not essential. Rehearsals take place on Thursdays from 7.00 to 9.00pm at Woodside Halls, Glenfarg Street, Glasgow G20 7QE, from September to May.

What a great pleasure and privilege to be selected as one of the music groups to receive Making Music UK Adopt a Music Creator funding! 😊

Making Music provides invaluable support to groups like Ca****la Slavonica through their educational materials and webinars. It was already very useful to learn some helpful tips and advice at the recent kick-off meeting for the Adopt a Music Creator programme, and our choir is currently on a mission to select a composer to work with later in the year!

We are delighted and honoured to announce our new Musical Director: Ben Lunn - Composer and Conductor. Among his many talents Ben studied music in Lithuania, and we're looking forward to sharing our experiences, singing together, and bringing you music from many parts of Eastern Europe 'from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.'

About Ben:

‘BEN LUNN puts his beloved birthplace Sunderland on the musical map’ – Linton Stephens, BBC Radio 3

‘His work extends the palette of sounds that can be brought into contemporary classical music, redefining both modern composition and concert-hall inclusion.’ – Alan Morrison, Rhinegold.co.uk

'Ben Lunn has forged himself a unique position within the new music landscape. As a composer, Lunn’s music reflects the material world around him, connecting to his North-Eastern heritage or how disability impacts the world around him or his working-class upbringing. Alongside this, he has become renowned for his championship of others, which have seen him creating unique collaborations with musicians from across the globe and developing unique concert experiences and opportunities for others.'

You can find him on Instagram at

Our lovely MD Kotryna has now returned to Lithuania to pursue Higher Education. Congratulations, Kotryna! It was a joy singing with you, and we're so grateful for everything you've done for us!

We're now looking for a new MD / Conductor to take us into the 2025/26 season. If you're keen on starting or developing a conducting practice, have an interest in music from Eastern Europe, and are available on Thursday evenings we'd love to hear from you! Rehearsals start in September and we have a Christmas Concert in the pipeline, which will include an exciting premiere of some of a newly-transcribed piece for small choir, plus some favourite seasonal pieces from our repertory.
