A special day out aboard Waverley for the children from the Craigend Resource Centre Summer Playscheme! 🚢

It’s important to us that all young people get the opportunity to experience Waverley. We were delighted to welcome the group aboard for a day on the Clyde and hope they had a brilliant time making memories with us.

A very big thank you to El Galeón Andalucía 🚢

A huge thank you to the crew of El Galeón Andalucía and Ports of Ayr and Troon for making way for Waverley today and changing their berth to allow us to welcome passengers aboard for our sold-out cruise from Ayr to steam around Ailsa Craig.

The El Galeón Andalucía is a 55-meter-long full-scale replica of a 17th-century Spanish galleon. Built by the Fundación Nao Victoria and launched in 2009, it functions as a floating museum touring international ports to showcase Spain's maritime history and the legacy of the Indies fleets.

It’s not every day you see two unique vessels sharing the Clyde, and we’re incredibly grateful for their help in making today’s sailing possible.

There is still the chance to sail from Ayr aboard Waverley this year, with cruises on Tuesday 18 August and Sunday 30 August.

Step aboard Waverley at Ayr (0930) to visit Rothesay, Tighnabruaich, Tarbert or Cruise Loch Fyne towards Ardrishaig.

What a night ‘Doon the Watter’! 🚢✨

Waverley set sail from Glasgow last night for a fantastic fundraising cruise in aid of Lighthouse Charity…and what an evening it was!

Lighthouse Charity provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to people working in the construction industry and their families across the UK and Ireland. We were delighted to once again help support such a fantastic cause.

And, of course, a special mention to DIGNITY The Deacon Blue Experience, who were incredible as always and kept the atmosphere going all evening! 🎶👏

Did you know it cost £107,725 to build Paddle Steamer Waverley? 🚢

That’s around £4.7 million today.

81 years ago, on 13 August 1945, A. & J. Inglis of Glasgow submitted their tender to build a new paddle steamer for the Clyde.

The plans were for a vessel that was 240 feet long, could carry around 1,350 passengers and reach 17 knots.

The tender marked an important step towards the Waverley we know today, which was launched just over a year later on 2 October 1946.
