💜 A huge thank you to Sharon, who recently
completed her Social Work placement within our Women’s Service! 🌟

Throughout her placement, Sharon brought a wealth of knowledge, skills,
compassion, and professionalism to both the team and the women we support. 🤝
Her enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and commitment to supporting others made
her a valued member of the service from day one.

One particular highlight was a session Sharon delivered on culture and identity
🌍✨. The women thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to explore different cultures,
share their own experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions in a welcoming
and supportive environment. The session encouraged learning, reflection, and
connection, and sparked some fantastic conversations. 💬❤️

We are incredibly grateful for all of Sharon’s hard work, dedication, and
positive energy during her time with us. 🌸 Thank you for everything you have
contributed to the service and to the women who engaged with you.

We wish you every success as you continue your Social Work journey and look
forward to seeing all that you achieve in the future! 🎓🌟💜

We’re so grateful to share that, thanks to the incredible support from our community, Murray’s Initiative Women’s Service has secured enough funding to continue running until the end of October 💜

The short-term funding package has been made possible through a combination of community fundraising, donations, media support and grant funding. We are pleased to announce we have been successful in our application to The National Lottery Community Fund and have secured £20,000 from their Awards for All programme.

Thank you to everyone who donated, fundraised, shared our appeal and stood beside us over the past few weeks. Your support has made a real difference.

Special thanks to Self Love Club Tattoo & Beauty, Ladies Who Lift, our media supporters, The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland and everyone who helped us reach this point.

Every day, we support women affected by gender-based violence, trauma, addiction and homelessness. While this funding gives us valuable breathing space, we are still seeking long-term funding to secure the future of the service beyond October.

Thank you for standing with us 💜

The sun is here in Glasgow! ☀️

Are you planning to head out or spend some time down the garden with a couple of drinks? Follow our 5 Top Tips for safer drinking when the sun is out.

1. Go alcohol free: many bars and restaurants sell a range of alcohol-free drinks, and you can buy these easily in the shops too.

2. Hydrate: drink plenty of water. The combination of sweating more in the heat and going to the toilet more, means you lose more fluid than you take in. You could become dehydrated unless you replace that lost fluid.

3. Avoid swimming: alcohol can lower our inhibitions, impair judgement and make us more likely to take risks. Alcohol slows down our reaction times, making it more difficult to get yourself out of trouble.

4. Know your limits: the evenings are longer which makes it easier to stay out longer, but it's still just as important to stay within the Chief Medical Officers low risk drinking guidelines of no more than 14 units of alcohol per week, spread over three or more days.

5. Watch your drink: if you're out, keeping an eye on your drink is essential for drink safety. Try out some cup covers and don't leave your drink unattended.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our bake sale yesterday in aid of our Women’s Service. 🧁💜

We are incredibly grateful to all of the staff and placement students who generously contributed home baking, and to everyone who came along, purchased treats and supported our fundraising efforts. Your support helps us continue providing vital services for the women we work alongside.

The bake sale also gave us an opportunity to come together as a team and say goodbye to our colleague John, who is moving on to an exciting new opportunity. While we are sorry to see him go, we wish him every success and happiness in this next chapter and thank him for all he has contributed during his time with us.

Thank you again to everyone who baked, donated and bought treats. 💜

A massive thank you to the amazing Murray’s Initiative team members who have chosen to climb Ben Venue in support of our Women’s Service 🚶🏔️

On Saturday 30 May, staff and volunteers will be giving up their time to raise vital funds for Murray’s Initiative Women’s Service, which is currently at risk due to funding challenges. Together, they’ll be climbing 2,393 feet - the equivalent of TWO Eiffel Towers stacked on top of each other! 🗼

We cannot thank them enough for their incredible commitment, generosity, and support of this essential service.

For , the theme is Action and sometimes the most powerful action we can take is making sure people aren’t facing life alone.

The impact we have with our Women's Service is the action of connection, support and safe spaces. These are vital for protecting our mental health. But right now, our Women’s Service is at risk of closure.

This week, we’re asking our community to take action:
💛 Donate if you can
💛 Share our campaign

Help us keep this lifeline open for women who need support and connection. Every action matters.

We know that alcohol and mental health are often closely connected. Taking a moment to reflect on our drinking habits, checking in with ourselves, and having honest conversations can all be positive steps forward.

If you’re thinking about making a change, whether that’s cutting down, taking a break, or simply learning more, visit: https://rethinkyourdrink.org.uk to take confidential screening.
