📚 Our Staff and Volunteer Wellbeing Library is Here! 💙

A huge thank you to the Sandyford Clinic for their generous donation of books!

Thanks to their support, we've created a Wellbeing Library in our Wellbeing Room, filled with books on health, wellbeing, self-care, recovery, and personal development.

We know how hard our staff and volunteers work every day to support others, and how important it is to take time to look after your own wellbeing too. We hope this library provides a useful resource, offering inspiration and practical support.

If you have any wellbeing, self-care, or personal development books you'd like to donate, we'd love to help the library grow.

Thank you again to the Sandyford for helping us create this wonderful resource for our staff and volunteers. 💙

❤️ This World Hepatitis Day, take a moment to think about your liver health. Your liver works hard every day, but alcohol and hepatitis can be a dangerous combination.

Nearly 5,000 people are newly infected with viral hepatitis each day. Viral hepatitis causes inflammation of the liver and drinking alcohol can place even more strain on the liver, increasing the risk of serious damage such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.

If you're wondering whether your drinking could be affecting your health, visit rethinkyourdrink.org.uk for a screening on your alcohol.

🥾💜 Plans changed, but Elaine was determined to make sure every sponsor knew their support still counted.

Although she couldn't make our fundraising hill walk on the day, this past weekend Elaine headed out with Lisa to complete a hill walk instead. 🌿☀️

It was a brilliant day, full of fresh air, good company and plenty of laughs. Most importantly, Elaine was able to honour the commitment she made to everyone who kindly sponsored her.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported the challenge – we really appreciate it! 💜🙌

Today we said goodbye (for now!) to our wonderful colleague Martin as he finished up working within the Elevate team at Murray's Initiative.

Martin's journey with Murray's Initiative and Elevate began long before he joined the team. As someone who first came to us through his own recovery journey, going on to complete an SVQ through Elevate, Martin then went on to build an incredible career supporting others across the recovery communities before returning to work within the Elevate team nearly four years ago. 💜

His story is a powerful reminder of what recovery, opportunity and belief in people can achieve.

In his farewell message, Martin described this as "the nicest place I have worked in 40 odd years" and shared that he will continue championing our work wherever he goes. We're incredibly grateful for his dedication, kindness, attention to detail, and the warmth he has brought to the team.

Thank you, Martin, for everything you've done for our team, our participants, and the wider recovery community. We look forward to hearing all about your next adventures and we know this won't be goodbye forever.

💙 Good luck, Martin – and thank you for being such an important part of the Elevate team.

💙 Looking for a career where you can make a genuine difference?

At Murray's Initiative, we're recruiting for two exciting roles within our Elevate Employability Service:

🔹 Employment Advisor
🔹 In Work Support Advisor

These aren't typical employability roles. You'll be supporting people in recovery from alcohol and/or drug use to gain, sustain and thrive in employment. From building confidence and identifying opportunities to helping people overcome workplace challenges, you'll have the opportunity to create lasting change in people's lives.

If you're compassionate, resilient and believe everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

Yesterday, our Management Team came together to reflect on the Charter of Rights for People Affected by Substance Use.

At Murray's Initiative, these rights are at the heart of everything we do. We're proud of the compassionate, person-centred support our teams provide every day and we know that taking time to reflect on our practice helps us celebrate what's working well while identifying opportunities to do even better.

We continue to hold Charter of Rights conversations with the people who use our services and our staff teams. These discussions help us reflect on how we're putting these rights into practice and ensure the voices of clients and staff continue to shape and strengthen our services.

Reflective practice and listening to lived experience are essential to providing the best possible support and we're committed to continually learning and improving together.
Keep an eye on our page for updates and opportunities to get involved. We'd love to hear from you. 💜
