Tenants in Cathcart confronted their landlord over energy debt!! 📣

Through getting unionised the tenants managed to get their bad boilers replaced, and members are now waiting for the housing association to accept responsibility for the debt.

Energy prices are about to spike again. Ordinary people are suffering while energy companies profit and landlords get away with broken boilers and energy leaking homes. Are you angry too? Join us.

Tenants demand energy debt wiped due to bad boilers! 💸🌡🚿

Yesterday, Living Rent members took action at Cathcart and District Housing Association offices over long-term boiler issues and energy debt.

Tenants had been complaining for years that the electric boilers weren't fit for purpose, with frequent breakdowns and totally unreliable hot water. To make matters worse, the boilers were using so much energy that tenants were being billed upwards of £200 a month just for electricity! Our members have ended up in thousands of pounds of debt.

Tenants made their voices heard yesterday and demanded the housing work with energy providers to clear the debt. We didn't get to speak with the CEO as she was away, but delivered a letter from her tenants. Tenants are standing together, and we are not going away!

Councillor Graham Campbell's fake promises 🙃

He promised to fight for the park, and then turned around and blocked the spending!

Living Rent members in Springburn fought hard to get funding committed to Broomfield park, and we're not going to stop until we get our park fixed 🛝

Whitehill Pool needs funding, not more promises 💷

After months of community action, Living Rent Dennistoun members met Cllr Allan Casey and MSP Ivan McKee to discuss the future of Whitehill Pool.

The meeting was positive, but now we need to see results. Within a month, Casey will report back on the consultants and start date for the business case, while McKee will report back on Scottish Government funding options.

We’ll keep pushing until our community gets the answers it deserves ✊
