Do you know someone who is cold at home or who struggles to afford their fuel bills? If so, this free training can help you to find solutions.

The training is available free to front-line staff responsible for looking after the health, well-being, and social welfare of vulnerable people in Scotland.

This updated energy efficiency training will enable a range of organisations in Scotland, to provide appropriate and effective advice and information to clients, helping them to obtain all the help and support that’s available.

It is a one-day course on fuel poverty and energy efficiency, which will help you find solutions for people struggling with their fuel bills.

The Radio Teleswitch Signal finally gets switched off tomorrow, a year later than planned. 120k meters still needing changed, 30% in Scotland. If you have electric storage heating & hot water check everything is working. Need a meter change, call your supplier and get one booked. Need help, call a local advice org in your area, Citizens Advice bureau or, if you are a tenant, your Housing Association. Check what tariff you are on or are offered, it is likely that Economy10 will be your best bet, depending on how much electricity you use and when you use it. You may experience a loss of heating and hot water without a meter change and if you don't secure a suitable tariff costs could spiral. Electricity prices are rising 5% on 1 July and look set to remain at this sort of level through the winter.

Household energy debt continues to spiral. It reached £4.79bn at end March, up by £250m since December. For those unable to pay and no arrangements in place gas and electric debt averages are over £3400. Even where repayment plans are in place amounts are rising. No debt relief in place, no social tariff or discount to break the cycle of debt whilst big energy suppliers make exceptional profits during periods of turmoil. Energy costs rising 1 July, average 13% but gas up 24%, electric 5%. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/data/debt-and-arrears-indicators
