GUMSA

GUMSA Welcome to Glasgow University Muslim Students Association That is where GUMSA started and insha'Allah we hope to uphold these values.

In 1968 a brother called Aslam Ibrahim initiated the Glasgow University Muslim Students Association with aims to unify and activate the Muslims on campus. The idea was simple – to create a voice for Muslim students to be able to fully practise their religion the university. Since GUMSA’s inception, we have striven to fulfil these aims as well as create new ones in which we foster links with the university and other student bodies in order to work together for the community in Glasgow.

Assalamu Alaikum

Charity Week is arriving soon. This year Islamic Relief is raising money to support Orphans in Need in Sudan. 🇸🇩

30 Million people in Sudan currently require humanitarian assistance due to war that has been ongoing since April 2023.

One way you can help is by creating your own fundraising page:
https://charityweek.islamic-relief.org.uk/microsite/setup-fundraiser?challengeId=bf06d8aa028

Customise your page, why are you raising money and who for? Over the next few weeks we have a Brothers 5K and an Islamic Relief Hike which you can raise money from.

Each of you have your own circle of friends and family who can donate. Find 10 people each to donate to help support those suffering in Sudan.

We will have a range of Bake Sales 🎂 on Campus and at Masjid’s announced soon. If you would like to volunteer and help raise money join the Volunteers group chat:

3 years since October 7th, 2023. 🇵🇸

Today marks three years since October 7th, 2023 — a date that marked a devastating escalation in a much longer history of displacement, occupation and suffering experienced by Palestinians.

As Muslims, it is our duty to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, to speak up against injustice, and to support those suffering. We remember the lives lost, the families affected, and the generations who have endured injustice.

Swipe through to learn more about the timeline of events, the humanitarian impact, and how we can continue to support. 🤍🇵🇸

We remember. We learn. We stand with Palestine.
