Did you know that Glasgow South has some of the highest child poverty rates in the UK?

Many families experience financial hardship due to rising living costs, illness, job loss, or unexpected life events.

Communities play a vital role in tackling poverty by building connections, sharing knowledge, and helping people find the right help at the right time.

For families we support who may be facing financial challenges, we can help ease some of the pressure by:

🧠Ensuring our staff and volunteers receive training in budgeting and benefits support
🤝 Connecting families with partner organisations and specialist services that can provide expert advice
👨‍👧 Offering free groups and Early Years Hubs where families can meet others in their local community
🛍️ Working alongside local food banks
💸Promoting financial wellbeing and helping families feel more confident in managing their circumstances

✨PORTAL NOW OPEN✨

The Glasgow's Spirit of Christmas portal is now open for you to pledge a gift for a child referred by our charity.

Help make this Christmas magical for a child living in hardship or poverty by becoming their Secret Santa 🎅🏼 You can choose the age and gender of the child you would like to pledge for! No matter how big or small, all gifts are greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference to the lives of these children ❤️

🔸September Public Holiday 🔸

Our office will be closed for the September public holiday on Friday 25th September and Monday 28th September, re-opening at 9 am on Tuesday 29th September.

Our Warm Place - Early Years Hub in Castlemilk will also be closed on Monday 28th September, but will be open as normal on Thursday 1st October at 9.30 am.

Last week, our staff and volunteer team took part in TIP Trauma Informed Parenting SCIO refresher training.

As trauma-informed practice is already at the heart of how we support families, this session provided an opportunity to refresh our knowledge, reflect on best practice, and strengthen our skills in supporting parents and children with empathy, understanding, and compassion.

This continuous learning helps us ensure families receive the best possible support💜

Families had a wonderful morning at our Sports Day last week.

Parents, carers and their children were able to take part in lots of fun outdoor activities, and take part in a range of different races.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in the sunshine, and a special thank you to Pudsey for coming along to join in the fun 💛

Our Warm Place Pollokshaws will re-open as normal next Tuesday 25th August at 9.15 am.
