This week on CamGlen Radio we had a brilliant chat with local author Iain McMillan about his writing journey and his two books, The Boy with the Thorn in His Side and The Money 💴 and the Honey 🍯 📖 You can find out more by visiting Iain’s website here 👉🏼https://iainmcmillanauthor.com

We talked about how Iain’s writing journey began, from his school days to having stories published in magazines and through to becoming a published author.

We talked about Iain’s debut novel and there’s plenty to connect with! From family relationships, friendships, music 🎵 and ⚽️ casual culture in Glasgow in the 80s & 90s, The Boy with the Thorn in His Side brings back a real sense of nostalgia.

We also talked about mental wellbeing and the challenges the main character. Frankie experiences, and how stories like this can be a powerful pathway to open up conversations that weren’t talked about so openly in those days.

We also chatted about one of the spin offs from the book — Keep The Heid, which is a local mens mental wellbeing peer support group which offers a safe and non judgemental space to connect and talk. 💙 They meet at Blantyre Soccer Academy Community Hub, Birch Place, Blantyre, G72 9PL (across from the Parkville Bar). You can find them on Instagram.

We really enjoyed this conversation and we encourage you to listen to be inspired and read the books !

A big thank you to Iain for joining me and sharing his stories with us. 🙌

And, who knows… perhaps one day we’ll see one of these books on stage or even on the big screen! 🎭🎥

📚 Iain’s books are available through his website and Amazon.

And if you’ve read The Boy with the Thorn in His Side, let us know what you thought — especially if it took you straight back to the 80s and 90s! 👇

🎶 Missed this weeks show on CamGlen Radio🎶You can catch our chin wag with David from Cambuslang Parish Church Pipe Band here 👉🏼 https://player.autopod.xyz/1388410

David shared what life is like in the pipe band, how people of all ages can get involved, some of the events they’ve had the pleasure in performing at and some events they have coming later this year. David treated us to a wee tune as well🎵 It was a brilliant insight into how the pipe band set up!

A big shout out to David and all the pipe band members for keeping Scotland’s rich musical heritage alive here in Cambuslang and for bringing people together through friendship and community.

A huge thank you to David for joining us.

If you’ve ever thought about learning the pipes or drums, or simply want to find out more about the band, this is well worth a listen! David shared his email address and so if you are thinking about it, listen and get yourself piping and drumming. If you become a member, you will be allocated a pipe or drum and they provide the uniform as well.

We plan to catch up with David in the near future to hear all about his 41 years at life on the sea which he has written all about in his book 📚 as well as his pilgrimage to the Camino de Santoago.
