12 Guitars

06/10/2026

Kevin and Ryan from HMP Low Moss visited 12 Guitars today to collect a set of acoustic, electric and bass guitars and amplifiers we are donating to support a music programme for inmates.

A few of our core team and members were on hand to help Steve and Gerry with the handover.

The well-being benefits music provides for people in prison are well documented and we’re delighted to be supporting this programme.

This was only made possible due to the kind donations we receive, the dedication of our volunteer guitar technicians Andre, Barry and Ian and the wonderful support we receive from D’Addario Music Strings.

Making the guitar accessible to everyone in the community.

It’s what we do…

Gary from the Families Matter Kinship Programme Team at Quarriers visited 12 Guitars recently to collect an electric guitar and amplifier for a keen young guitarist they are supporting.

One of our regular members Thomas in his trademark rock star sunglasses was on hand to do the handover.

We hope she has lots of fun with this lovely guitar which was refurbished by our fabulous volunteer guitar technicians. Restrung with D’Addario strings of course.

Thank you to Deni Smith from the Glasgow City Council Arts in the City Programme for joining the dots and making the intros once again.

Making the guitar available to everyone in the community. It’s what we do!

Craig Brown from Social Work Justice Services in North Lanarkshire Council dropped by recently to collect a guitar we are providing for an individual he is supporting as part of a rehabilitation programme.

We recognise the many well being benefits a guitar can bring, so we were delighted that Craig got in touch.

The guitar was serviced by our amazing guitar techs and restrung with D’Addario strings of course.

This lovely Hohner guitar belonged to Zanzi(short for Zanzibar) real name William who was once part of the line up of Glasgow Blues Rock band,Big George and the Business. The guitar was donated in Zanzi’s memory by Mora.

Once the guitar had been serviced and restrung by our Guitar Techs, Paul (pictured with the guitar) introduced 12 Guitars to a working Student, Williams who was needing a guitar. We are grateful to Mora for donating the guitar in Zanzi’s memory and to Paul and Suzi for making the connection to Williams and also for handing the guitar over to Williams on our behalf.

A thank you also to good friend of 12 Guitars, Crawford Smith for introducing us to Paul and Suzi who had identified that Williams was in need of a guitar. With some teamwork we managed to join the dots.

Making the guitar accessible to everyone in the community. It’s what we do …….
