Happy Bi Visibility Day from Unite the Union!

Today, we celebrate the vibrant and diverse bisexual community, raising awareness of the challenges faced by bisexual individuals and advocating for their rights. Bi Visibility Day is a reminder that visibility matters—every story, every experience, and every voice counts.

At Unite, we stand in solidarity with our bisexual members and allies, promoting inclusivity and acceptance in all aspects of life, including the workplace. Everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and respected, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Let’s work together to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Share your story, uplift bisexual voices, and let’s continue to fight for equality for all!

Today marks a really special moment as Millport Pride takes place for the very first time — and we’re delighted to be there supporting this fantastic new community event.

For Unite, Pride is about more than a celebration. It’s about solidarity, equality, visibility and standing together against discrimination — in our workplaces, our communities and wider society.

As a trade union, we’re proud to support LGBT+ workers and communities and to help make sure that everyone can be themselves, feel safe and be treated with dignity and respect.

We’re especially proud that our Unite NHSGGC Branch is sponsoring Millport Pride and helping to support the event from its very first year. Look out for our volunteer T-Shirts. 🌈❤️

Come along, show your support, meet fellow activists, Branch Officers, Unite Regional LGBT+ committee members and celebrate the fantastic LGBT+ community in Millport and beyond.

Pride began as a fight for equality, visibility and the right to live openly and without fear. Now, more than ever, we need to remember that history.

When LGBT+ rights are challenged, when trans people are targeted, when discrimination and hatred are normalised — we must stand up, speak out and stand together.

Pride is celebration, but it is also resistance, solidarity and protest. Pride is community.

Unite represents 15,000+ health & social care workers in Scotland, and won't allow them to be collateral damage.

Reducing health boards does not reduce workload or staffing pressures. 1 in 9 hospital beds were occupied because of delayed discharges.

Delayed discharges could be avoided and redirected towards more effective patient support if social care services in Scotland were properly and adequately funded.

Our answer is investment in health and social care, not “slash and burn” cuts.

Celebrating Disability Pride Month with Unite the Union

July is Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of disabled individuals while advocating for their rights and visibility in every aspect of society. At Unite the Union, we stand in solidarity with our disabled members and the broader community, recognising the importance of pride, inclusion, and empowerment.

This month, let’s focus on:

Celebrating Identity: Disability is a part of who we are. It’s vital to embrace our identities and promote the strength that comes from diversity. Let’s uplift disabled voices and stories!

Advocating for Change: Despite progress, many barriers remain. We must continue to fight for equitable access, better representation, and inclusive policies that support disabled workers and their rights.

Today, on Domestic Workers Day, we pay tribute to the dedicated domestic workers who play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and safety within our healthcare facilities. These unsung heroes, cleaners, porters, and support staff, ensure that our hospitals and clinics operate smoothly, providing a safe environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.

At Unite the Union, we stand in solidarity with these essential workers who often go unnoticed despite their critical contributions. Their hard work is foundational to the NHS, and they deserve recognition, fair pay, and the respect they’ve earned.

Many domestic workers face challenges such as job insecurity, long hours, and inadequate support. We must advocate for better conditions, protections, and a voice in the workplace.
