Scientific progress in HIV has been extraordinary, but public understanding hasn't always kept pace. That's why it's so important we challenge stigma, improve awareness and make testing accessible to everyone who could benefit.

Alan Eagleson, Head of Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland, joined Scotland Tonight to discuss why tackling stigma remains essential if Scotland is to end new HIV transmissions by 2030.

Scotland has made remarkable progress, but there is no room for complacency. Reaching our 2030 goal will require action to match ambition and services that are adequately resourced to deliver what is needed.

From our home in Glasgow, we are honoured to welcome the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt to the Tramway, on display in full for the first time in Scotland until 4 October.

This historic moment sees Terry Higgins’ own memorial quilt formally join the wider collection. Terry was the first named person to die of an AIDS-related illness, but his quilt is a celebration of how he lived, shaped by the memories and love of his partner, friends, colleagues, and the community he continues to inspire.

As we remember Terry and celebrate the many lives woven into these incredible panels, we also pay tribute to the Quilt’s founder, Ally Van Tillo, who sadly passed away recently. His dedication ensured these stories of love, loss, and resilience would never be forgotten.

The exhibition is free to visit at the Tramway. Please come along, take a moment, and reflect with us.

Today we were proud to march at Glasgow's Pride alongside thousands of people standing up for equality, visibility and inclusion.

More than 40 years after the death of Terry Higgins, we're still standing shoulder to shoulder with LGBTQ+ communities in the fight against HIV stigma and discrimination.

Scotland could become the first country in the world to end new HIV transmissions without a vaccine or a cure. But we'll only get there by ramping up the fight against stigma, discrimination and inequality.

Together, let's make history.

We'll be gathering at our centre on Bell Street around 11am, where we'll have t-shirts and placards available before we head out to join the march.

Today marks 44 years since Terry Higgins became the first named person in the UK to die of an AIDS-related illness on 4 July, 1982. Starting a chain of events that led to the founding of our charity in his name and our place at the forefront of the fight against HIV for the past four decades.

Our Chief Executive OBE spoke to BBC Radio Wales about Terry. Starting "Terrence Higgins Trust was founded by a boyfriend and a best friend." Have a listen to hear more about our namesake before his name became synonymous with HIV.

Today, 44 years on, everything's changed. You can live a long, healthy life with HIV. You can take PrEP to protect against HIV. People living with HIV and on treatment can't pass it on to partners.

But, equally, too much hasn't changed. Stigma and discrimination persist and stark inequalities exacerbate the HIV epidemic. They stop people from getting tested, from accessing PrEP and from staying on treatment.

Today's anniversary, which falls on , is a moment to reflect, to remember Terry and to galvanise to ensure we do all we can to end new HIV cases by 2030 -- including tackling HIV stigma.

Terry Higgins, 1945-1982. Gone, but never forgotten. And everything we do, we do in Terry's name.
