Thanks so much to everyone who made our final Local Place Plan event such a success - 212 local people shared their views on what’s most important for our area. We’re now working to finalise the LPP and develop QPN’s Legacy projects.

Carla Burza is a student conducting research for their dissertation and would really appreciate it if anyone who cycles or walks on Victoria Road could take a few minutes to fill out their survey. It should only take about 5 minutes. If you know anyone else who walks or cycles there, Carla would be grateful if you could share it with them too. Thank you so much for your help!

A brilliant opportunity for local people (i.e. YOU) to start with a micro growing/greening project in our neighbourhood

As we continue to pack up and leave Bellahouston we have over 100 raised beds that need a new home.

Despite our best efforts and a frustrating exchange of emails, it remains unclear that Glasgow City Council will continue to manage Bellahouston Nursery growing plots beyond the short term. This is despite public statements of their press office stating the site would be preserved for food growing. We sought assurance that they would manage the plots and offered that if we had assurances we could give the raised beds to GCC. They refused this offer and were unable to provide us with any confidence that growing plots would be managed or made use of after we left.

We have now given some raised beds directly to the current plot holders who wanted them. They can keep them on site for as long as GCC allows them, or move it elsewhere if they prefer. Despite this we still have around 100 remaining and want to try and get as many of them as possible to other community gardens where they will provide food growing space.

If you are a charity or community group that would like raised beds to expand a food growing space then drop us an email ([email protected]) and let us know how many you would like. Raised beds vary in size but most are 8ft x 4ft or 4ft by 4ft, they are filled with compost and moving them to a new site will be a bit of a task.

If you are an individual or a business and are interested in some raised beds we would be happy to make some available in exchange for a donation towards growing projects at our new site.

Our Stage Two Survey is now closed; many thanks to all of you who filled that in.

Check out our website at https://qpn.org.uk/lpp-stage-1-engagement-report/ for the feedback from the Stage One Survey. We’re delighted at all the great ideas that folk have come up with and thoughts that you have shared. The Stage Two Survey built on that and we look forward to seeing the resulting analysis by our consultants Kevin Murray Associates. That will be published early next year.

Two of the most popular issues that are coming up is a lack of community venues and the lack of a public toilet (there is also a Glasgow City Council consultation on this right now; see https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/9643).

Look out for the next community events we will be holding in 2025 including another fun family event at the Glasshouses in February.

We wish you all an enjoyable festive season and a happy, healthy New Year 🥳🫶
