đź’› Marie Curie is joining the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade! đź’›

We’re delighted to be taking part in the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade on Friday 29th August! 🎉

It’s a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community, raise awareness of the vital work Marie Curie does, and cheer on all the incredible third sector organisations that make such a difference across our community.

📣 If you’re going to be in Aberdeen, please come along and cheer us on!

Or, even better… join our army of yellow!💛

We’d absolutely love to have you walking alongside us and helping us spread the word about Marie Curie and the support we provide to people living with any terminal illness and their families.

If you’d like to join us or find out more about taking part, please get in touch with [email protected]

"There is only one chance to give someone a good end of life experience – and being there for a patient and their loved ones when they need us most, it’s an honour and privilege.

I am so fortunate that families welcome me into their homes at night and offer support to the patient and family"

- Jade, Orcadian Health Care Assistant living with her husband and young family in Moray.

Make a Difference in Orkney 💛💙

🎽LONDON MARATHON🎽 this weekend, and we have two amazing runners, Paul Savage and his daughter Maria are running in memory of their Mum and Granny💛.
Paul said -
My mum Linda's terminal cancer diagnosis had been a shock as she had been such a fit and healthy woman.
She lived a full life. She was a mum to me, and my elder sister, Fiona, and then set up a business with our dad. She had been sewing and knitting since she was a teenager. We all benefitted from her skills. She loved reading and cryptic crosswords. She had a good sense of humour, was level-headed and admired and respected. Mum was already a Granny to 5 when she died at 53.
Throughout her treatment she didn't complain and typically had her family in mind. Having a Marie Curie nurse in the last few weeks of her life allowed her to receive specialist end of life care at home. This was at least one aspect of her condition that she was able to choose. She was nursed with such care and professionalism and that was a comfort for us all.
It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years since Mum died. We won't ever forget the support from Marie Curie and that is why we are running to support this wonderful charity.
Every five minutes, someone dies without the end of life care they need. Marie Curie wants to fix that, and so do I.
