We are so thankful to the 4th year Film and Media students at Glasgow Uni and GMAC for choosing our foodbank as the subject of their dissertation documentary film. Special thanks to Helena, Emily and Sam for integrating so well with the foodbank team as they worked on the film over a 12 week period.

'Our Neighbours' reminds us that there is no great divide between people who’ve used foodbanks and people who haven’t, because crises like illness or bereavement or redundancy can happen to anyone.

Many thanks to our supporters at Curlach Hair Salon for their generous donation of two HUGE bags of toilet rolls. It's not just food that goes into an emergency parcel - we also give people basic toiletries such as toothpaste, soap and loo roll, and nappies for the wee ones. Food banks shouldn't exist.

Last week we launched our 15 Years Serving Our Community appeal, as we approach our 15th anniversary this Autumn. We're celebrating what we've achieved, the volunteers, partners and supporters who have made this possible, and trying to shore up our financial capacity to continue for as long as needed.

The truth is, none of us thought we'd still be here in 15 years time when we were founded in 2011. We maintain the belief that food banks should not exist, do not need to exist (they didn't used to, as all but the youngest reading this will remember).

However, people do still need us... week in, week out.

And right now something unusual is happening too. Normally, summer brings a lull in demand. But over the last 8 weeks we've supported around 30% more people than during this time last year. The food bank is busy every single day.

This is usually a time when we get to restock and prepare for winter, but on the contrary, we're having to buy in more and more food and our stocks are really low. We've had some great donations and support over recent weeks as you might have heard, but there's still a huge need as we move into the second half of 2026.
