Glasgow West Amnesty International Group

Glasgow West Amnesty International Group Human Rights Glasgow West is one of many local volunteer groups supporting the work of Amnesty International UK's campaigns. We would love new members!

We meet once a month, on the second Thursday of the month, at 7.30 p.m. at Woodlands Methodist Church, Woodlands Road, opposite The Dram Pub (was Uisge Beatha), in the West End of Glasgow. During our meetings we write letters and carry out other actions in support of Amnesty International's campaigns, and we sometimes have guest speakers. We also hold fundraising and awareness-raising events throu

ghout the year, including an annual pub quiz and a comedy night. Please feel free to just turn up at one of our meetings, or contact us on [email protected] if you have any questions beforehand. See you there! Amnesty International is a group of ordinary people from around the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. Please consider donating to our group. Your donations (however small) help cover out costs such as postage stamps for our campaign letters. You can donate via PayPal here: https://tinyurl.com/32yxjj2j

Our group will be attending the anti-racist demo this Saturday 💚

If you would like to join us, we will be meeting at 12:45 outside the Waterstones at Sauchiehall Street.

Come along and show that racism has no place in Glasgow!

Scared and angry at the scenes of racist violence?

You're not alone.

We see what’s happening.

Fear and hatred are being used to turn us against each other.

That hatred has turned into racist violence.

This Saturday 13 June, join thousands in Glasgow and Belfast standing for equality, dignity and justice.

📍 Glasgow, Buchanan steps
📍 Belfast, Belfast City Hall
🕐 1pm, Saturday 13 June

Bring your friends. Bring your voice. Bring hope.

When we act together, we show the small violent minority that our solidarity is far greater than their hate.

A reminder that we will have some very special guests from Refugees at Home joining us at our monthly meeting today!

🤩 Our monthly meetings take place every second Thursday of the month. This is where we catch up and take action on human rights.

💡Attending our meetings is the best way to get involved and shape the group's campaigning and fundraising activities.

Ahead of next Thursday’s election, do you want to know where Scotland’s political parties stand on human rights?

We have reviewed the manifestos of the SNP, Conservatives, Labour, Greens, Liberal Democrats and Reform to see where each party stands in relation to the ten asks set out in Amnesty’s 2026 Human Rights Manifesto. Read via the link in our bio.

Please note Amnesty International is independent of any and all political parties, and the analysis is for information purposes only; it is not intended to endorse any party or candidate.

It's incredible seeing so many people come together to celebrate community and compassion, and we had a lovely time chatting to many of you about the work of Amnesty International UK and our group.

If you're feeling inspired by the day and want to get involved, drop us a message or come along to one of our monthly meetings to find out more!
