One Saturday a month, we host our Screen Print Your Own Tote Bag workshop! And if you’ve ever wanted a fun way to fill a spot in your weekend plans - it’s the perfect first taster to a new creative adventure ✂️

In just an hour and a half, you’ll get a fun introduction to the Print Clan studio and go home with your own custom, hand screen printed bag (and likely the bug for printing more!) ✨

You might’ve noticed a few little updates around the Print Clan studio 👀 We recently closed for two whole weeks for some much needed maintenance!

Our wonderful team & timebankers gave everything a proper refresh, from organising samples, leaflets and materials to upgrading the washout booth with new lights, a longer hose and fresh plastic. (We even had to replace the entire power washer after cleaning far too many screens!) Set up our new natural dye area with the accompanying fridge & equipment - then a fresh coat of paint on our pink front doors to finish things off and, of course, nothing was safe from the label maker 🏷️

Some behind-the-scenes snaps of a limited, one-off run we’ve had the privilege of printing for Glasgow Tramway, as part of their The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt display.

The T-shirts are based on a reproduction of an original T-shirt from Tramway’s 1992 exhibition, designed by Tony Arefin / Stephen Coates, and reimagined in this wonderful red and pink colourway. ❤️🩷

You can still visit the exhibition until Sunday 4th October and pick up one of the T-shirts, with every purchase helping to conserve and protect the Quilt and its legacy!

As summer wraps up we’ve tallied a mammoth amount of printing across Glasgow & Scotland alongside our favourite partner organisations, who provide essential work to children and families during what can be a very long, and often challenging summer holiday from school: LINKES Platform Glasgow and Glasgow HSCP.

We have taught textile screen printing to more than 450+ children, across more than 15 days and over 40 hours of screen-printing workshops.

They joined us to create fantastic screen-printed banners, flags, T-shirts, and tote bags and it has been a wonderful privilege to work with children of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities and sure there’s plenty more printing to be done together soon.

MEMBERS 🚨For a limited time can get full access to all our pre-mixed natural dye pastes for just £2, when booked in for standard daily table hire.

We want to encourage experimenting with natural colour and make it more accessible, without the time, cost and uncertainty of trying preparing dyes from scratch.

Normally, members would need to prepare their own printing paste using foraged or extracted dye materials, indalca paste and mordant and pay per 100g of every colour mixed.

Being able to use our pre-mixed selection means you can try natural colour in your printing without the risk or time commitment of having to mix your own recipes.

Just add to cart with your normal table booking and this bundle covers a ‘fair use amount’ of our natural dye pastes and modifiers. 🪴 (don’t forget to book the steamer too - to fix the dyes!)

For one day only, we’re heading to historic Dunblane to join the brilliant Central Scotland School of Craft Dunblane for a beginner friendly masterclass in multi-layered textile screen printing.

We’ll be transforming their workshop space into a pop-up print studio, where in just 2.5 hours you’ll learn how to build a multi-colour screen print through the traditional processes of drawing, registration and hand printing, creating your own printed tote bag to take home.

This is a hands-on introduction to textile screen printing, using the same equipment and expertise found at our open access studio in Glasgow.

If you’re local to Dunblane and have always wanted to try screen printing but haven’t made it through to our Glasgow studio, this is your chance! 🥳

This weekend “Print Clan: From Plants” begins our commitment to nurturing a community around the use of natural colour - and if you’ve been anywhere near the studio recently you’ll have seen (and smelt!) us cooking up a storm behind the scenes to test, learn & develop ways of working with natural dyes within our space 🌱

Volunteer with Print Clan!

We’re looking to recruit new, enthusiastic volunteers to support us with day-to-day studio tasks, from cleaning and tidying to organising materials and helping out during workshops and events.

In return, you’ll earn studio time back through our timebanking scheme, giving you access to our facilities and membership to work on your own textile printing projects.

This opportunity is ideal for a textile student or recent graduate, or Print Clan member with knowledge in textile screen printing who’s looking to gain hands-on experience in a creative and supportive studio environment.

Print Clan: From Plants - Workshops are now live!

As part of Print Clan: From Plants, A Weekend of Exploring Natural Colour for Textiles, we’re excited to launch two hands-on workshops with long time Print Clan members at an affordable entry point to encourage participation in sustainable textile practices.

Saturday 8th August - Printing with Patterns & Colours From Plants with Molly MacFin & Elinor Scarth:
 Discover how plants can become pigments for screen printing. Learn about the plants behind the colours, from growing and harvesting to creating your own naturally printed textile samples.

Sunday 9th August - Indigo Dyeing & Eco Printing with Keng Keng Tang:

Explore the heritage process of indigo dyeing and learn how plants, leaves and botanical materials can be used to create unique textile designs onto fabric samples using eco printing.

This programme is subsidised by Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funding, allowing us to offer high quality workshops, delivered by expert makers at as low and accessible of a price-point as possible (£30 per ticket) for this one-time, unique event.
