Hope for Addiction UK

Hope for Addiction UK A Christ-Centred Approach to Recovery Built upon a Biblical Understanding of Addiction.

09/10/2026

“In this phase of Hope for Addiction’s ministry, we want to mobilise the church, to resource the church, to train the church to step back into the mess of addicted lives.” — Terry McCutcheon, Director of Hope for Addiction UK

At Hope for Addiction, we want to see churches equipped and encouraged to walk alongside those struggling with addiction, bringing practical support, genuine community and, above all, the hope of the Gospel. ✝️❤️

When is the right time to be baptised after coming out of addiction? 🤔

It’s a question we’ve been asked many times at Hope for Addiction UK. 💬

✝️ Baptism is an important act of Christian obedience, but when someone is in the early stages of recovery, is there wisdom in taking some time before making this significant public commitment?

In our latest blog, we explore four reasons why taking time over baptism may be worth considering. 📖

💬 “You, along with others, had a sense not only of responding to the need, but a vision for what God can do when people, looking away from themselves to Him, are able to bring the good news of the liberating power of the gospel to bear upon people’s lives.” — Alistair Begg

For Alistair Begg at Truth For Life with Alistair Begg, supporting people in need has always been about more than simply meeting an immediate practical need - it’s about showing people the love of God.❤️

As a patron of Hope for Addiction, Alistair has recognised the importance of coming alongside those struggling with addiction. Our vision for Hope for Addiction UK is to offer people not only practical support for their needs, but more importantly to offer them Jesus!

We are officially ONE WEEK OUT from our first hub launching!!

As Hamilton Baptist Church prepares to officially launch, please pray with us! 🙏

• Pray that people struggling with addiction in the local community would hear about the meeting and find the support they need.
• Pray for the Hamilton team as they leaflet the area and make the Church Hub known in the community.
• Pray that the team would feel equipped and prepared to welcome and support those who come along.
• Most importantly, pray that people would hear the good news of the Gospel and come to know the hope we have in Christ. ✝️

“We never get beyond the basics.” 👣

Recovery isn’t about constantly discovering the next new or exciting step. More often, it’s about learning to be faithful and consistent in the basics — turning to God’s Word every day for help and continuing to trust in Him. 🙏

Terry and Alistair remind us in this clip that these basics are essential for every Christian. One challenge Alistair Begg leaves us with is this: before we teach the Bible to others, we need to preach it to ourselves. 📖

🎉 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS!

Can you believe it’s already been a month since we celebrated 10 years of Hope for Addiction UK?

We’re back into the rhythm of our regular meetings and ministry, but we’re still looking back on our anniversary weekend with huge thankfulness. 🙏

It was such an encouragement to see so many people from the recovery community, our supporters, churches and friends come together to celebrate all that God has done over the past 10 years.

We’re so grateful for everyone who has been part of the journey — and as we look ahead to the years to come, we’re excited to see what God will continue to do! ✝️

🚨 Our first-ever Church Hub is coming! 🚨

We’re thrilled to announce that Hamilton Baptist Church are partnering with Hope for Addiction to become our first Church Hub! 🙌

But what exactly is a Church Hub? 🤔

A Church Hub is an in-person meeting that connects into our main Road to Recovery meeting in Glasgow. Our team will lead the meeting remotely, while the church provides a local space where people can meet, build relationships, continue conversations and find ongoing support within their own community.

We’re so excited to see how God will use this partnership to reach people in Hamilton who are struggling with addiction and looking for hope. ❤️

We’re incredibly thankful to Hamilton Baptist Church for stepping out in faith and partnering with us. We can’t wait to see what God does through this new Church Hub! 🙌
