πŸŽ’ ATTENTION PARENTS: Is your 16 to 19-year-old already back at school, college, or starting an approved training course? πŸ“š

If you receive Child Benefit, please check your account immediately! HMRC payments stop automatically after a child turns 16 unless you officially confirm they are staying in full-time education or approved training.
⏰ The deadline to notify HMRC is 31 August.

If you miss this date, your payments will stop, and it can take time to get them restarted.

πŸ“± How to update your details quickly:
β€’ The HMRC App: This is the fastest method. You can confirm your teen's education status in just a few taps.
β€’ Online: Log in to your personal tax account via the official government website: www.gov.uk/child-benefit-16-19

πŸ›‘ What if my teen has left school or training?
If your 16 or 17-year-old has decided to leave education or training, you can still apply for a 20-week Child Benefit extension period to protect your payments. To qualify for this extension in Scotland, your teenager must be registered for work or training with Skills Development Scotland. You must apply within 3 months of them leaving school

🀝 We are here to help!

Navigating benefit changes can be stressful. If you are worried about your claim, need help updating your details, or want to make sure you are getting all the financial support you are entitled to, our Welfare Advisers are here for you.
