Next up on May 31st before we take a wee break for the summer!

Cordless Four bring the iconic pianoless sound of the Gerry Mulligan / Chet Baker quartet to Music in the Mearns.

Featuring leading musicians from Scotland’s jazz scene, including baritone saxophonist Allon Beauvoisin (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), the programme combines classic standards with original compositions in a fresh, contemporary take on this distinctive sound.

We were gifted with a most spectacular recital by Petras Geniusas who opened our eyes to the possibility of classical improvisation and 20th century repertoire for solo piano. A long time and much loved Professor of Piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, it was a real honour to welcome Petras to our humble stage.

Another incredible MITM to kick off Spring! Timeless Vivaldi, Debussy and Beethoven. Thank you to our marvellous cellists Emily Brockett and Erdem Akça and our Founder & Director Karolína Kubálkova. These photos were captured by one of our long time supporters and brilliant photographer Ross Baker.

As we do in every programme, we feature brilliant young talents who are eager to kick off their performance career by programming them alongside renowned professionals. Riyaan Rakhra, Paolo Cerqua and Ethan Paterson showed a distinct passion for music and our audience was so appreciative that they shared their skills with us on Sunday.

See you April 19th for our next event featuring Lithuanian Petras Geniušas, whose artistry has made him one of Europe’s most respected interpreters at the keyboard and a long standing Professor of Piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

From seasoned performers to gifted young musicians, Music in the Mearns is proud to support talent at every stage. Misha and Maria came all the way down from Inverness! With them, they brought confidence, poise, and an obvious love for the music they performed. A huge credit to their inspiring teacher Tonya Clement for her support and hard work.

What an unforgettable performance! Seonaid Aitken’s effortless blend of voice and violin virtuosity, paired with Conor Smith’s impeccable jazz guitar, created a concert that was at once thrilling and deeply comforting. Food for the soul and we were so lucky to have them.
