Billy Caldwell from Castlederg in County Tyrone has a severe form of epilepsy, which at one point had him suffering hundreds of "life-threatening" seizures a day.

🪴🌺 Allotment open day - 22nd of August 🌺🪴

Kirklee Allotments open day will be on Saturday 22nd August, 2-5pm.

Everyone is welcome, and please feel free to invite friends and family.

You can visit the Epilepsy Connections team at Plot 68 to hear about our gardening group and our services!

There will be plenty of activities on the day including; barbecue, tombola, 'guess the weight of the courgette' competition, and sales of cakes, flowers, plants and tea/coffee. A map of the site will be available as a handout with suggestions for a guided walk. This year we will have two 20 minute periods (around 2.30 and 3.20) of live music from students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

We're delighted to launch our 2026 Children & Families Activity Programme for children and families affected by epilepsy kindly funded by the Better Breaks fund.

This year we're offering three fantastic opportunities to spend time together, make memories and connect with other families who understand:

🌿 11–13 September – Weekend of Rest & Relaxation at Netherurd Garden House
🦒 17 October – Family Day at Blair Drummond Safari Park
🎭 5 December – Aladdin at the King's Theatre

All activities are free thanks to the generous support of Better Breaks.

We're excited to launch our first family activity with a trip to Glasgow Science Centre !!!
