Over the past few weeks, we have been delighted to deliver our PTSD Awareness and Education presentation to Student Paramedics at both University of the West of Scotland and University of Stirling.
The sessions focused on understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) within the Emergency Services, helping future clinicians recognise how exposure to traumatic incidents can impact their own wellbeing and that of their colleagues throughout their careers.
Drawing on Blue Light Minds’ research into trauma within the Emergency Services, alongside expert input from trauma psychologist Dr Kelly Savery, the presentations explored how PTSD can develop, the signs and symptoms to look out for, the importance of early intervention, and the support available when it is needed.
