We have been very concerned by the reports of violent incidents in Edinburgh and are holding those affected, their families, and the wider Muslim community in our thoughts.

We stand with Edinburgh's interfaith community and the work you do to build bridges of solidarity between communities.

Among the agenda items at last night's IG Board Meeting was planning for our Ten-Year Anniversary Annual Supporters Meeting later this month. There will be cake! πŸ˜†

Indeed, places went like hot cakes for the ASM this year. But don't worry if you didn't manage to snap up a ticket - we'll be celebrating all year, including another larger civic reception at Glasgow City Chambers during Scottish Interfaith Week, so hope to see many of you then!

In the meantime, please consider supporting IG's Ten-Year Anniversary Building Bridges Appeal, and help us ensure this work continues for many years to come. πŸ™

As we celebrate ten years of Interfaith Glasgow, we're reminded why this work matters. Every day we bring people together across faiths, beliefs and backgrounds, helping to build understanding, trust and belonging in our city.

Following last week’s racist attacks in Glasgow, this work feels more urgent than ever. Moments like these remind us how important it is to stand together, challenge hatred, and strengthen the connections that hold our communities together.

If you believe in a more connected, compassionate Glasgow, please consider supporting our 10 Year Anniversary Appeal. Every contribution helps us continue β€” and grow β€” this work into the next decade.

πŸ™ Thank you for your support - we couldn't do it without you

Like many people, we've been deeply saddened by the images coming out of Glasgow city centre and Belfast this morning.

Many people in our cities will be feeling anxious, unwelcome, or unsafe today. To all those affected, please know that you are not alone.

Rather than sharing more images of division, we wanted to share this short video from our Glasgow 850 Interfaith Sponsored Walk. It reminds us of the Glasgow we know and love: a city where people of different faiths, beliefs, cultures and backgrounds come together in friendship, solidarity and mutual respect; where people are valued regardless of where they were born, the colour of their skin, their religion, or their background.

As we mark our tenth anniversary this year, we are reflecting on a decade spent helping to build a city where everyone belongs. A city that chooses neighbourliness over suspicion, friendship over fear, and solidarity over division.

That Glasgow is real too. We see it every day in our communities, our places of worship, our schools, our neighbourhoods, and in the countless acts of kindness and welcome that rarely make the headlines.

Today, and every day, we stand with all those who call Glasgow home.

🎧Listen to Interfaith Glasgow Programme Manager Luke Devlin's Thought for the Day on BBC Radio Scotland, reflecting on the aftermath of the terrible murder of Henry Nowak, and calling on those who have directed their anger towards the Sikh community to think again.

"I've been in contact with Sikhs in Scotland who have been deeply saddened by the senseless killing of Henry Nowak, and have called for mutual respect, peace and understanding.

That's the Sikh community that I know: their practice of 'seva', or 'selfless service', includes regularly serving free food to those who need it, both on the streets of our cities and in the communal meals, or 'langar', in their Gurdwara temples which are open to all, regardless of faith...

Beyond the online platforms that provide a fertile ground for polarisation, there are real people from different traditions - friends, neighbours and colleagues - who are quietly working together to build that better world..."

GCM - Qurbani distribution

Alhamdulillah over 600Kg was collected and distributed to Glasgow's most needy; including refugees, asylum seekers, and those in working poverty. Part of the meat was also cooked to provide meals for the homeless.

May Allah swt accept our Qurbani in its true spirit.

GCM's poverty relief project supports more than 1000 people of all faiths and none every month. To share in the reward of helping our city's most needy, set up a standing order, recurring or one-off donation at:
