Prison Fellowship Scotland is a non-denominational Christian charity working with prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families. Through dedicated field staff and over 120 volunteers working in Scotland's prisons - and outside through prayer - the Fellowship operates as a resource to prison chaplaincy in changing lives through the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ.

We wanted to make our volunteers aware of an upcoming event that may be of interest.

This Is Alpha: Encounter takes place in Perth on Saturday 5 September and is designed to encourage, equip and refresh those involved in Christian ministry and outreach. The day will include worship, prayer ministry, keynote speakers and a range of seminars, including a session on Prayer Ministry in a Prison Context.

We're Hiring!

Prison Fellowship Scotland is looking for a Restorative Justice Lead to lead and develop our Sycamore Tree Programme across Scotland.

This full-time role will involve:
• Leading the delivery and development of the Sycamore Tree Programme in prisons across Scotland.
• Working alongside prison staff, volunteers and partner organisations to grow restorative justice practice.
• Promoting the work of Prison Fellowship Scotland within churches and helping raise awareness of justice issues.
• Contributing to the wider growth and vision of our organisation.

📍 Based at our Glasgow office with regular travel to prisons across Scotland.
💼 Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
💷 Salary: £31,000–£34,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Today is 24/7 – 💚

Every hour of every day, Samaritans ritans are there to listen.

That support reaches into Scotland's prisons too. Alongside their free helpline, Samaritans train people in prison to become Listeners – trusted peer volunteers who offer confidential emotional support to others during some of their most difficult moments.

For people experiencing loneliness, anxiety, grief or despair, simply having someone who will listen without judgement can make all the difference.

At Prison Fellowship Scotland, we're grateful for the compassion and dedication of Samaritans volunteers and prison Listeners, whose commitment reminds us that hope often begins with being heard.

Please join us today in giving thanks for everyone who gives their time to ensure that no one has to face life's darkest moments alone.

🎭 If you're heading to the Edinburgh Fringe this August, we'd encourage you to catch The Ballad of Jack and Stacy.

Written in collaboration with people in Scottish prisons, this funny and hopeful story explores prison, addiction and survival through powerful storytelling and music featuring songs by Supergrass, John Lennon, Johnny Cash and more.

Created by Bethany Christian Trust Creative Expressions, the team behind the acclaimed Insiders, this uplifting half-hour lunchtime performance has already received a wonderful response from audiences in prison.

Our Annual Gathering is just around the corner!

Our volunteers should now have received an invitation to join us on 12 September for our Prison Fellowship Scotland Annual Gathering.

This is always a special opportunity to come together as a ministry family to worship, pray, hear what God is doing across Scotland, and encourage one another.

We're delighted that this year's keynote speaker will be Trudy Makepeace, whose life is a powerful testimony of God's transforming grace. We know her story will be a real encouragement to everyone who joins us.
