🏆 The 2026 Associations Cup

📅 Tournament Dates: June 19–21, 2026

⚽ This prestigious tournament brings together representative teams from Scotland, the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.

📍 This edition of the tournament will also be hosted by the SFAI Ireland at the University of Limerick (UL Sport Grounds), a sporting environment that combines elite facilities with on-site accommodation.

⚽ The grassroots competition is organised by Euro-Sportring International Tournaments in partnership with the National Associations. Four boys’ teams will compete for their honours, while four girls’ teams will take part in the second edition of the girls’ competition.

Participation in the Associations Cup represents a significant milestone for young players and ranks among the most important achievements at this stage of their development. While each match contributes to player growth and results naturally generate excitement, the lasting value of the tournament lies in the overall experience, the friendships formed, and the enjoyment shared.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the team management, administrative staff, parents, and guardians for their continued dedication and support.

Special thanks are also due to Tony Ryan and the referees, whose efforts ensure fairness throughout the competition. All participants and supporters are reminded to treat match officials with respect at all times.

This is a memorable occasion for all involved.
Embrace the challenge, learn from the experience, and, above all, enjoy the weekend.

2026 Scottish FA Grassroots Awards Supported by McDonald's – Nominations Now Open
The nominations are now open for the 2026 Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, supported by McDonald's.

These awards are always among the most special moments in the Scottish Grassroots football calendar, providing an opportunity to celebrate the incredible people, clubs and volunteers who go above and beyond to make our game possible. Across the country, thousands of dedicated individuals give their time, energy, and passion to ensure that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy our wonderful sport.

As another summer of football captures the imagination of fans around the world, it is important to remember that every football journey starts somewhere. For many players, coaches, referees, and volunteers, that journey began at a grassroots club, with people who encouraged, supported, and inspired them along the way.

This is your opportunity to shine a light on those individuals who make a real difference in your club, league, or community. We receive so many inspiring and humbling nominations each year, highlighting the very best of Scottish football and the remarkable people at its heart.

Last year was another fantastic celebration of our grassroots game, culminating in an unforgettable national awards ceremony. We were especially proud to see Pollok United crowned UEFA Grassroots Club of the Year, a tremendous achievement not only for the club itself but for Scotland's grassroots football community as a whole.

Please take a few moments to read through the information below and consider nominating someone who deserves recognition. Chances are they won't be seeking the spotlight, but their commitment, dedication and impact deserve to be celebrated.

We are fortunate to have such a passionate and committed grassroots football community in Scotland. Let's come together once again to recognise the people who make our game special and give them the recognition they truly deserve.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to receiving your nominations.

UPDATE ON NEW. PVG PROCESS

The introduction of the GFPVG group created a more consistent approach across the grassroots game, allowing PVG membership to be recognised across the participating organisations while maintaining the highest standards of child and player wellbeing and safer recruitment.

In line with the changes introduced through the Disclosure (Scotland) Act, it is now a legal requirement for individuals undertaking regulated roles with children (and vulnerable adults) to hold the appropriate PVG membership updated every 5 years. Organisations also have a responsibility to ensure that individuals are suitably checked before carrying out these roles.

Following the introduction of the Grassroots Football PVG (GFPVG) process in early 2025, the Scottish Youth FA, Scottish Women’s Football, Scottish FA and Scottish Para Football remain committed to reviewing procedures and implementing improvements wherever possible to make the process clearer, more efficient and easier for our members to navigate. This note sets out changes we will be implementing – please read this notice and be aware of the changes and the implementation dates set out below.

Following our review, the requirement for identity checks to be carried out at club level has now been removed. These changes are intended to reduce the administrative burden placed on clubs and volunteers, while maintaining the highest standards of wellbeing and recruitment across Scottish football.

Throughout June, we will be trialling a new COMET module which will allow applicants to upload their identification documents directly as part of the application process for verification. As part of this trial, applicants will no longer be required to arrange a meeting with an Additional Signatory for identity verification purposes.

Relevant applicants will be provided with a private link to access and complete the module throughout June as part of the trial period.

Applications using the current process will continue to be accepted until 5:00pm on Wednesday 24 June. Following this deadline, the existing application inbox will close to allow a full review and reconciliation of all submitted applications before the launch of the updated process.

The new procedure will then become the sole application method from Wednesday 1 July, at which point the COMET module will be made publicly available to applicants. The four working day transition period between the closure of the current process and the launch of the new system will allow us to ensure that all applications have been received, reviewed and processed appropriately, ensuring that no applications are missed during the transition.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all Additional Signatories for the countless applications you have facilitated and the significant contribution you have made in supporting your clubs and volunteers throughout the implementation of the GFPVG process. Your commitment, patience and support have played a vital role in allowing clubs across the country to continue to operate and thrive.

Although the identity verification requirement at club level is being removed, we would strongly encourage Additional Signatories, where possible, to remain involved as a “PVG Guru” within your club environment, supporting coaches, volunteers and applicants with any questions or guidance they may require throughout the process. Your experience, knowledge and continued efforts remain invaluable to our organisations and the wider grassroots game.
