Senscot

Senscot Building networks to represent, support and strengthen social enterprise in Scotland. The first SEN was established in Fife in 2004. What do we do?

The SENs is the name Senscot gives to our work with Social Enterprise Networks (SENs) - both thematic and geographical in Scotland. There are now more than 20 SENs operating across Scotland - 7 thematic and 18 geographically based - connecting over 670 social enterprises. The SENs provide members with opportunities for:

* peer support
* resource sharing, joint working and development of markets
*

a focal point for issues specific to social enterprise
* a collective voice both locally and nationally
raising the awareness and profile of social enterprise, again both locally and nationally. The vision is of a growing community of frontline social enterprises across Scotland - connected and energised through a network of Networks.

Senscot: Supporting Social Enterprise

Senscot works with others to facilitate and coordinate Social Enterprise Networks (SENs) - forums where social entrepreneurs can come together for support and seek to grow through a collaborative approach.

Local Social Enterprise Networks are groups of active social enterprises who come together regularly with the intention of growing opportunities for themselves and the social enterprise sector locally and, in doing so, look to provide more effective services within their respective communities.

There are currently 16 local SENs across Scotland. Some are constituted – some are not. Some receive funding or have resources allocated through their local Third Sector Interface – some do not. Between them, they work to support and connect over 800 grassroots social enterprises in Scotland.

On top of this, Senscot facilitates 6 thematic networks, bringing together social enterprises who share common interests and social goals: Community Food, Cultural, Employability, Health, Sport and Tourism.
