Members from the Glasgow City UNISON branch were proud to stand with our fellow members from across Scotland at Holyrood today as part of UNISON's Fair Visa Campaign.

Our NHS, care sector, and public services would not be the same without the hard graft of migrant workers. They deserve our respect, not unfair and exploitative changes to the Indefinite Leave to Remain framework.

πŸ’šβ€οΈπŸ’œ What a night! 120 UNISON Glasgow City Education members out in force to take their demands for greater investment directly to Glasgow City Council!

We had support from right across the union and Scottish Branches, including our general secretary and president who were gutted not to be able to be there in person. Big shout of to for speaking on behalf of members in Falkirk! This campaign is going to grow and we will win πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Next steps: meeting with councillors to discuss our demands and members will come together over June and July to plan for escalation. Keep an eye on your emails! Up the Union!

OUR DEMONSTRATION IS THIS WEEK!

The time has nearly come for our education subbranch to gather and demand action from Glasgow City Council on violence in schools and early years.

We'll be gathering at John Street, just beside City Chambers at 7PM this Thursday.

Here's Phil at John Street to tell you more πŸ˜€

Rosaleen has worked in education for 27 years and has seen violence at work grow worse and worse.

We need Glasgow City Council to fund education properly if we want to protect both children and staff.

Join us on Thursday the 28th of May at 7PM as we gather at City Chambers where we will call on the council to invest in education.

Members from the Glasgow City branch were there to lend our support and spread the word about our own branch's demonstration at City Chambers at 7pm on Thursday the 28th of May.

All are welcome on the 28th! Bring your flags and placards and let's make some noise! πŸ˜€

πŸ“Ί We’re in the news! UNISON Members in Glasgow City schools and early years are keeping the pressure on the council ahead of our demo at the City Chambers on Thursday the 28th May. Our members spoke to the BBC about the violence they face at work every day.

πŸ’ͺ UNISON members have had enough of being unsafe, undervalued, and undermined at work. Let’s stand united - support staff, teachers, parents, and pupils - to demand Glasgow City Council meet with us to discuss our demands.
